80 litres less tank internals iirc.

I fully intend to take my build across and around Europe, can't see why not. Obviously will have to sacrifice a few things due to the limited storage space.

I did an organised 'Alpine Adventure' over five days some years back. From Cambridge to Folkestone, France into Switzerland, then into northern Italy. All in about 2100 miles with all the seating capacity occupied, not to mention all the luggage space! We did have a bag in an Aston too.

Best trip so far, 14hrs in the car on the first day and no ill effects, other than needing a bed immediately on arrival.

It was a driving holiday so a lot of hours in the car with no issues, I guess over a longer period it would be more relaxed, so go for it.

Only as far as Le Mans as yet. I usually do a little detour on the way home so about 1500 miles.

The run down to Le Mans is about 440 miles. It is broken up by the Channel Tunnel crossing, a fuel stop (or 2) and lunch. Usually arrive about 3.30pm from a 9.00 crossing.
We don't rush due to the rather zealous police speed traps that try to empty your wallet.

I think I get over 20mpg on a long run. However, I never check as I don't want to know!

I think a trip to include Alpine passes, Italian lakes and some German autobahns will be on the cards at some point in the next few years.

Do you have aircon? Comfort wise I could sit in mine all day day long but I would find it a challenge from a heat point of view as I don't have aircon.

I only have side screen helicopter vents for ventilation at the moment, I am planning some more positive ventilation into the cockpit from an intake at the front of the car but that will only work whilst on the move...

I think aircon is essential especially when sitting in traffic.

You could fit a small fan in the tube from your air inlet to create positive airflow into the car but on a hot day that air may still be in excess of 30deg C.

Petrol Head Nirvana Group Alpine Assault road tour is planned this summer with my Ultima. The whole tour, petrol stops, hotels, etc all planned and sorted as a part of the package. Looking forward to it.

A well built Ultima is fine across country. I've done 2 jaunts into Europe with my Can Am so far (the first one 30hrs after getting my numberplates!) and will be doing a Spa & 'Ring trip in a few months. Fantastic seats, big fuel tanks, good suspension, great gearing ('box dependant of course) and plenty of decent music on the stereo, perfik!

I'll aim to take her over the channel this year I think. Ferry or train OK for clearances?

Recent trip was 100 miles or so to Silverstone, a day at the track, then back again. Never missed a beat. I'd have the confidence to go a lot further. Germany would be great!

I use the train. I book as a large vehicle and travel with the coaches, etc. Less ramps and wider. Never had an issue.
