I went to my first supercar meet in the Ultima this weekend (one really sensible guy wrote on Facebook that the 3 highlights for him were seeing the Ultima, the Ferrari F50 and the Bugatti Veryon Supersport so I was in good company) smile

Anyhow... I noticed on the run up and back that at times my speedo reading fluctuated wildly (not just when I was chasing the Bug), with the needle sometimes going full scale and others just seeming to randomly jump about. Other times it was fine.

I did change the nearside inner cv boot not long ago and may have accidentally moved the pick-up sensor for the speedo that is nearby.

How do I know where to move it back to or do I need to measure how far it needs to be from the ring on the shaft? Might it be anything else?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

ps.. apologies for spelting mistooks in the title. Typing fail smile

If the gap were too large I would expect it to just miss signals and give a low reading or a reading that stops rising as the speed goes up. A signal that spikes to full scale is more likely a short somewhere or the instrument itself is defective.

Hiya, I had the same thing, for me it was the spade connector just a bit loose I took it off, squeezed it very gently so it was tighter on the connector, problem solved.....

Thanks all.

Well, the gap was fairly big so I have closed that up. I have also fiddled around with the spade connectors and hopefully the combination will help. Will test it next dry day smile

Yup. That's the one. I am sure I heard one of the organisers say there was 100+ cars. Breakfast was fab as well smile Certainly was a well organised event. I always have great intentions of going to these things more regularly but always dither about and end up doing something else.
