I think it's great the factory have invested the time and money in the new model. For me my Ultima will be a continual evolution, every winter it'll get revised and improved as I suspect many builders on here have done to their own cherished car. The new factory car gives those who dont have the time to build their own, the Ultimate factory Ultima, those of us who already own an Ultima, have the option to evolve our cars, I've seen so many differing Ultimas that in effect we all own Ultima Evo's, just not factory ones.

I doubt any tiptronic would be used, not unless some simple electronic control modules have been found.
A Pdk box in an Ultima would be superb - could easily handle the torque as they are in turbo s's, but I guess they'd be almost impossible to get working. 7 speed paddle shift though, lovely smile

Porsche have already sorted the upside down running of a PDK as they fit it to the 919 Hybrid so only the electronics to sort now.
How hard can it be!!!

Since the Evolution uses the uprated GTR chassis, I assume it uses the GTR running gear, so spares (suspension bushes, drive shafts, hubs etc) will still be available for the GTR. Perhaps the Factory could confirm this (and I still think GTR Evo would have been a better name!)

I agree... but suggest with all the masses of testing and development the factory have told us they have been doing they would have looked into this. its an ovious choice for the future especially on this completely newly designed car.

Looks great! However the one bit I don't understand is the interior.. If they really wanted to modernise it to compete with the new batch of super cars why not ditch the manual dials for one of these in the binical:
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/dash-disp...

or the 5" one if that is too big..

and one of these just below it:
http://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/app-link-statio...

with the switches positioned either side instead of the more dated media unit they have used?.. just would of looked more modern and very slick...

7" is too big, the 5" looks perfect. That or the motec colour display would be a worthwhile improvement.

just an update i would like to share.

i had a long chat with Richard today as I really didnt understand the loss of the Canam and GTR and how this was to be a replacement as it looks the same to me.

There are alot of changes that have been made and some of them, Richard said the customer variants have been the best choice.. so hence the audi vents and S2000 starter buttons and they just couldnt find a better one unless the cost shot up.

The bodywork although the same shape,as customers wanted to keep the shape is a better fit and quality, and more colours are available.
The front screen heated, the side windows are now e marked.
the chassis is the same as the 2013 updated chassis and so are the wishbones, although the long wishbones are now available as are the long GTR and canams in my previous emails., but the shocks are different. the hubs are now made in house.
the wheels are a lot lighter and this has developed due to customer needs. more options are available
the brakes remain the same as they feel they are already powerful enough.
interior wise there have been a lot of changes. the wiring loom is new, the gauges redesigned, the push button steering wheel has duplicated buttons on the dash as they have to light up when used, the roll cage is now closer to the body again,
there is a quick shift centre shifter available on all centre shift cars, but right hand gear changed cars remain the same.
all the engines by the looks of things (please correct me)are now ls and gearboxes on offer from the factory the later generation boxes not early G50.
the petrol tanks are different
the grill meshes all round different.
led lights front back and side repeaters... not HUD
there are also new inside door releases which do look nice and on a personal note i hope they replace the outer ones too.
the car has parking sensors, and a rear view camera.
carbon fibre mirrors which you can now see out of as the rear wing has changed... the second element is higher so easier to see too.
there are other differences but as Richard has suggested i need to study the photos and read the website.

Other than chassis most of these parts are interchangeable, so there will never be a shortage of parts for your GTR or Canam.

He also confirmed they have had alot of enquires and tbh while on the phone today, it sounded like a telephone exchange in the back ground and alot of orders have been current owners wanting to upgrade certain parts of their car, now they are an optional.

I have asked to borrow one by the way as a quick search on facebook of Ultima GTR is 90% me... so maybe you might get some feedback on how the car drives, but due to insurances im dreaming that might happen...

just thought id share the info

Dom

Also has anyone been in one of the 2013 chassis to know how much of a difference they make?..

I suspect you'd only notice it on track, can't see much difference in non jail able road speeds.

As most Ultima owners don't track their cars I think it will be hard for you to get some data on that, other than the actual stiffness figures from the factory. Stand to be corrected on that though.

As a side note, I think the factory should offer a discount on parts to customers who have clearly inspired the latest car - what do you think Richard? smile
