I suspect you'd only notice it on track, can't see much difference in non jail able road speeds.

As most Ultima owners don't track their cars I think it will be hard for you to get some data on that, other than the actual stiffness figures from the factory. Stand to be corrected on that though.

As a side note, I think the factory should offer a discount on parts to customers who have clearly inspired the latest car - what do you think Richard? smile
Stiffer chassis, especially from around 3000nm/degree to virtually 30,000nm/degree, means you can tune the suspension for better cornering and ride, so I would say the difference would be noticeable on the public road.

The factory will be along in a mo to comment!

Glad the factory are moving the car models along thumbup

If there's some tangible data it would be good to see it. I can't see owners noticing any difference on road with road shocks and standard wishbones, but again, if there is some hard data to say otherwise it would be great to see it

So Dom does that mean with a factory spec car there should be no bump steer on B roads?

if the chassis is stiffer the car should stay "tighter" for longer over the duration of its life.

Id say no, as the suspension is the same as the GTR except the shocks.

but the longer wishbones are available which i recon will, but i havent tried them yet, but will be ordering some soon

if you want to 'hide' the bump steer run the Mitchelin PS2 tyres. it almost rids it, and is an amazing difference compared to the other tyres.

ive kept my kumo tyres and when i fit the longer arms ill try them again as a comparision.

What shocks are used nowadays?

I am also interested in if the shocks have been upgraded again to complement the stiffer chassis and additional power available. Perhaps the Factory could comment if any further developments have been made with shock absorbers & springs for becoming IVA road compliant and additional upgrade available for higher performance / track work.

I think perhaps 'Superceded' is a better term that 'obsolete'. Obsolete means of no use whatsoever. Think typewriters, Gameboys, Betamax (and VHS!). So calling Can Ams and GTRs obsolete simply isn't right IMHO. The lot of them will still out perform the vast majority of bang up-to-date models of most manufacturers.....

Its no surprise some owners might take exception to having their pride and joy with £tens of k invested badged as 'no use whatsoever' (especially by the factory). Perhaps just a language oversight.... smile

Being one of the longer builds (possibly the longest!) I hope the factory are still supplying the bodies to fit the old GTR chassis otherwise mine WILL be obsolete frown

Sorry but you are talking about tramlining when you say a PS2 hides bump steer?
If that were true then it would point to a very vague and poorly performing tyre surely?

All parts and spares for the superseded Ultima GTR and Ultima Can-Am will always be 100% available from the Ultima factory. This is also covered on our website EVO FAQ section.

Just out of curiosity where do you officially find this definition you describe above for the term "obsolete".

Our research using various dictionaries suggests otherwise but we certainly aren't english language experts here smile

Hiya,
Nowhere, just expressing an opinion after reading some earlier comments on the thread. Regardless of the dictionary definition its more about the common use of the word day to day. IE:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/picture-gall...

My post was intended to diffuse the point by saying this is simple interpretation (or misinterpretation) of English Language. I don't believe for one second the factory have junked the GTR/Can Am in favour of the Evo generation thinking that the GTR/Can am is fit for the scrap heap and we've all been wasting your/our time for 15 years! Far from it!

Obsolete in my brain is what happened to laser discs, HD DVD and minidiscs, not the Can Am/GTR. Make sense? I think thats probably where other comments on this thread have stemmed from.

Totally agree thumbup
The word "obsolete" isn't officially defined like that from what we can find but in any case it shall be removed from that one place it is mentioned on our site in the coming days, once our website is working again. Currently having to change to a more reliable service provider which is happening now and into the early hours so hopefully will be alive again soon.

"the disposal of old and obsolete machinery"

Sounds a bit like your service provider Richard wink
