We are here to help any current builder upgrade to Evolution spec with pleasure. We have already discussed and agreed this with a vast number of current new build customers already. See this below FAQ which is listed along with many others on the new Evolution web page:

I am already half way through my GTR or Can-Am self -assembly new build or have a new factory order placed already for a new Ultima GTR or new Ultima Can-Am which is yet to be delivered. Can I upgrade to an Ultima Evolution?

Yes.
Our new build customers command the utmost priority here at Ultima Sports Ltd and we are extremely grateful for their loyalty and placing their confidence and faith in us. We are very happy to work with new build customers who have yet to finish their car to help them upgrade their Ultima to an Evolution specification and for new unregistered cars which have the latest vastly superior year 2013 onwards chassis we are happy to issue Ultima Evolution VIN plates as long as the customer is happy to purchase a certain proportion of upgrade parts to meet the new improved Ultima Evolution specification criteria. It will be our pleasure to work with customers on a “one on one” individual basis to satisfy their desires where possible so that they aren’t building a now obsolete GTR or Can-Am model.

Regards to all,
Sorry the word obsolete wasn't used only once on factory website.. It was used here on this forum too on the above reply And in another reply that the new evolution is far superior to the old GTR and canan in handling etc too..I think that's why so many owners are upset vocally on here and privately with all the emails between owners..

Look guys it's happened .. Let's just except it. It's upset a lot of owners the way this has been carried out

Most new models start with rumours and then a product launch seeing a completely different shape car..

I understand how the factory feels this is a new car because it's improved everything in their eyes but I also understand our point of view as an owner the car looks the same so isn't a new model and as it's using the same suspension chassis and even drivetrain on the lower spec models

I know a lot are offended by what's been said and done over a bank holiday.

Let's all just thank the factory for bringing out a great set of upgrades.. They could of sat on their arses and just sold the same old product until sales ran out.. We now have a new record contender for the ring and topgear track and it's upto the factory to go show us what they have created and go get theses records back from others that have now beaten us...

We have a new model that visually ALL of us can buy a few upgrades and make it look the same on the outside which means older models won't drop in value as they all look the same from a distance.. ;0)

So Dom does that mean with a factory spec car there should be no bump steer on B roads?
Id say no, as the suspension is the same as the GTR except the shocks.

but the longer wishbones are available which i recon will, but i havent tried them yet, but will be ordering some soon

if you want to 'hide' the bump steer run the Mitchelin PS2 tyres. it almost rids it, and is an amazing difference compared to the other tyres.

ive kept my kumo tyres and when i fit the longer arms ill try them again as a comparision.
Sorry but you are talking about tramlining when you say a PS2 hides bump steer?
If that were true then it would point to a very vague and poorly performing tyre surely?
The ps2 tyres removed tram lining but also removed 80% of bump steer too meaning car far more useable.. The good years were the same but Pirelli tyres the bump steer was noticeable. The kumo horrible. The r88 better.. I'm wondering if anti roll bars could help with other tyres It's a common discussion on here the factory must be aware of ..
But I'm told they have done loads of testing and if they haven't standardised the longer arms or fitted anti roll bars the must have seen no advantage...

I too are keen to improve the car used to develope cars and bikes in the trade and worked on race bike so understand trying loads of things.. Iand love testing..which is why the factory get loads of feedback from me with ref changing a part on the car...
.. I have anti roll bars but I have nt used them on the road as they are the same as the record car and massive diameter with no give... I'll try them one evening when not busy to give some feed back..

Just to point out Dom that we've received hundreds of congratulations emails regarding the new Ultima Evolution from our Ultima owning customers around the world and not one single complaint or mention of being offended. Also if you read this whole thread from start to finish it is full of folk wishing the factory well and congratulating us with lots of positive comments which we really appreciate smile
There were a couple of slightly negative points in this thread but they were all fair points indeed and to be totally expected when you launch something new.

It's a new version of the original Ultima - a bit like the ariel atom. Fundamentally it's the same, but like the atom, the engine's upgraded, the frame has some tweets, new dash, some carbon fibre bits etc.

All manufacturers do this, the porsche 997.1 to 997.2 didn't change the exterior by much but new engines, Pdk etc

I'm personally very happy with my Ultima GTR and won't be changing any time soon, but I glad there is something to aim for and it will be evolving. thumbup

Did you not read all of the "bargain of the century" comments regarding the Ultima Evolution floating around various motoring websites presently smile

However you are definitely on our system for a bargain set of hexagonal body grills with fantastic airflow when yours wear out. However we did get it custom made for the Evolution in aluminium with a minimum order requirement to do so of 60 large sheets in the end wink

Our website is now live again.
Some will be able to view it now and others won't as apparently "it might take up to 48 hours for some people to see the change as the domain name switch can take a while depending on the service provider."

The new Evolution hexagonal body grills (which are fitted to every grill location on an Evolution front and rear) have a 76.4% air flow percentage compared to just 31.2% for the GTR and Can-Am body grills. It also looks 100% correct aesthetically as a body grill design with any more percentage air flow rate than this will not look quite correct we found during Evo development. A most worthwhile upgrade to a GTR or Can-Am especially in warmer climates.

Regards to all,
Perfect and I agree they look great too. As I've had a rabbit strike which has bent up my front grill, I think a full replacement is on the cards for my car!

Further questions pls....
- Can you give details on the new centre shifter. Is it custom made for you? Does it incorporate a quick shift? Can it be fitted to an existing centre shift car easily?
- The brake master cylinders look changed, are they? If so, how have they been changed from the previous versions and are they a worthwhile change too?
- For my own curiosity, what have you done to the GT2 'box to get a 240mph top speed?

Thanks, factory!

The new Evo gearshift is a quick shift system for quicker gear changes supplied to Ultima specification, normal H pattern with a very short and precise throw with a reverse gear safety lock out feature. We will only ever offer a manual gearshift Ultima. Yes it can be fitted to a GTR or Can-Am if you have a later 996/997 transaxle fitted.

The new Evo brake master cylinders are an integral version with each having an internal float with level switch and test button on top. This makes a neater installation and removes the need to have the separate brake fluid reservoir with all the extra connections and plumbing associated with that. The master cylinders themselves are the same bore size as before.

There was a final drive change on the GT2 box to make the 240mph which we can supply and fit at the factory.

Regards to all,

One thing I've only just noticed is the weight stated - 950kg.....

Is this Richard just after writing the press release?

Being serious,

Richard, can you publish weights for the different versions?

Presumably the full fat 1000hp model with AC, stereo, trimming and all the options is not 950kg?

950kg is 100% correct as a dry weight for the 1020bhp supercharged Ultima Evolution Coupe demo car.
The LS powered Evo Coupe built to factory specification with air con and all the usual Ultima trim is 930kg.
