On the subject of weight just a little point to demonstrate how the Ultima has evolved:

The dry weight of a pre 2013 manufactured LS powered Ultima GTR was 930kg.
The dry weight of a 2013 onwards LS powered Ultima GTR was 939kg as 9kg was added (21 new chassis members) to make a 553% torsional rigidity improvement on the pre 2013 chassis.

Enter the Ultima Evolution which now has lightweight forged wheels (8kg lighter) and we are now back to a 931kgs dry weight as well as having the 553% stiffer chassis PLUS the weight saving is made in the un-sprung weight of the vehicle.

This is just one more minor item to demonstrate how the Ultima has been vastly improved yet retains the same level of price point.

Richard,

Would you mind posting the weights of these new wheels? I think that would be of interest to quite a few, with a worthwhile loss of weight.

Rear Ultima Evo spec forged wheel- 10kg each
Front Ultima Evo spec forged wheel- 8kg each

In addition to the 8kg unsprung weight saving on the new Evo wheels there is also a further 1.5kg unsprung weight saving per car set from the new design Ultima Evolution wheel nuts.

just a quick post to say that i was able to view the new website this morning and have a look at the new bits for the Evolution model.
very impressive and comprehensive range of tweaks there. The new front wheel arch vents look good, wondering if they are now molded as a one piece part that is fully open from the factory. An update to the mold was listed as one of the improvements. the carbon bits really look good and indicate the level the molds have reached.

I remember Stig's GTR-S having the old inserts that got added by the builder, which were later discontinued. Good to see these back on the list.

once again, and to echo everyone else's comments, congratulations on a very successful and comprehensive upgrade.

regards Ryan

I think those vents weren't actually discontinued, they just weren't openly advertised?

looks like a 1 piece side pod to me, with no additional vent, so i presume that the mold has been modified with a removable core to allow this to be laid up in GRP as a single part. Hard to tell in black

How do you put the full bags in the side pods once they are installed? The CF lids are too small to let them in?

Indeed, no way those nice looking bags are going to fit, not unless the side pod has been totally modified. You can always try carrying them on your knees... biggrin

......set of hexagonal body grills with fantastic airflow.....
What is the air flow percentage through these grills pls? I would be up for a set, but need to know the air flow through them.
The new Evolution hexagonal body grills (which are fitted to every grill location on an Evolution front and rear) have a 76.4% air flow percentage compared to just 31.2% for the GTR and Can-Am body grills. It also looks 100% correct aesthetically as a body grill design with any more percentage air flow rate than this will not look quite correct we found during Evo development. A most worthwhile upgrade to a GTR or Can-Am especially in warmer climates.

Regards to all,
how much are these please?

Well, having had a close look at the new Evo at Stoneleigh today, I have to say it looks awesome.

Richard took the time to go through a lot of the changes with me and they have addressed many of the comments that have come up over this forum. You can now have a stripped out racer but you can also have a car that is far more comfortable with many nice touches.

The quality of the fit and finish have also stepped up a gear too.

And they now have a proper badge for the car.

Not surprised they have sold 25 since the launch at Easter.

Well done to all involved.

Paul

PS. Thanks for the mugs Richard. Much more PC than a bottle of wine when you are selling a 1000hp car. biggrin

ok people, what's the cheapest I could build one of these for myself, buying all the stages from ultima?

(it is my long term aim aim to do so, but I don't know if it'll ever be possible due to money constraints!)

Best to contact the factory on this, prices are no longer on their site.

Don't know for sure, but I'd guess at £60k for with a low spec engine,£90ish top spec.

+ 5% for 'ooh that looks pretty'
+ 5% for 'that will make it faster'
+ 10% for 'well i've gone this far so it would be rude not to'

Reckon of a minimum of 70k. Then allow for the above.

I suspect the waiting list will be getting longer by the hour, so might be best to at least look at putting a deposit down to secure a slot (I am assuming you can still do that ....)

Haha I just spunked a wedge on a set of Braid F1 wheels and Ps2's.
