thats alot to be honest, could do that horsepower for alot less, using the lsx engine and supercharger
yep very expensive and seriously doubt the power output claimed.
The power output is fairly reasonable given what Jeff Schwartz and Nelson racing have achieved. The whipple supercharger is running at 17psi and could go upto 34psi , LSX engine is good for 2500bhp so to my mind the engine's not too stressed wink

In terms of price, it's on the same level as Jeff Schwartz and nelson racing, but at 940+lbft torque you are going to have throw an extra $10k at the gearbox to ensure it doesn't get too scared on track.

Whether or not you need 1020bhp on the public road or track is up to you! When Chris Evans was on track in his LaFerrari at carfest North he seemed to be having a right giggle. I don't remember him saying it was too much power!

There aren't too many people pushing the LS engines past 1000bhp using the Whipple 4.0 ltr (actually it moves 3.85 ltr per rev) blower! Not on normal fuel anyway. I haven't seen the price of other engine builders offerings but would guess this is in a similar price bracket.

This block will NOT support 2500bhp! its a production LS9 block from what the Factory has said and is using production head castings I think (worked on).

As to is this too much power, that's down to the person buying the engine. smile

Expensive compared to what?

No matter what the knockers say, american speed engines are proven, plug and play and have no hidden surprises. There have been quite a few owners who have been swayed by suppliers saying similar things to your post, then to end up with a poorly installed engine that requires further investment to resolve, so the American speed offering ends up being good value. I've seen some shocking LS engine installs done by self proclaimed specialists that devalue the car way more than the difference in value to an expensive AS one.

I have no allegiance to american speed and if I was building again, I'd either get another crate set up or go to AB, but that's my personal preference and I totally understand builders go with american speed. And the vast majority that do are very happy.

Not sure of the factory one, Gail quoted me LSX with 96 unleaded. Iirc Jeff Schwartz engine is LS (Warhawk(?)) based but using twin turbos.

Anyway the power academic and subject to fudge factors, pressure, temp, etc etc

The figures speak for themselves 0-60 in 2.3s and 0-150 in 8.9s - which is ridiculous for a road car that passes SVA!
