Recently my GTR ate some teeth on its starter ring gear. On inspection it ate two teeth in one spot and one in another. I bought a new ring gear from Kennedy Engineering. They are the folks that provide the L.S./ g 50 adapter to the factory. Being within drive distance of where I live made the transaction even easier. They had no explanation for the failure and have not seen this problem before. Replacing the ring gear on my G50 -03 was very easy the ring gear mounts on the flywheel in this application 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven and it fell into place. The starter itself showed little issue and could have been easily reinstalled. But I must say the starter had never been enthusiastic about starting the LS. So after some home work and more than a few dollars I bought a new Bosch starter that fits a GT3. Part # 996-604-107-0214. WOW, what a difference, the cranking speed is probably double what it was before. I do not know the spec of the original stater provided with the car but it never spun up the motor the way the new one does. If you have this set up in your new build or need a new stater I recommend this starter more money but certainly a better starter. Lee
