More Center Section-Related Questions...
Discussion
After getting my center section on the car last Friday (it looks much more car-like now!) a couple of additional questions have arisen:
Ken
- Is there any way at all to install the A/C compressor in the right side pod with the center section on the car? I sure can't see how. Good thing it's not riveted down yet; I can slip the compressor in there prior to final installation of the center section later in the week.
- With the center section on the car, it's apparent that the rear of each side pod is bumped out slightly (maybe 2-3mm) vs. its pre-fit position from the factory. I'm guessing that it's due to the foam wedges bracing the fuel tanks. Should I attempt to force the side pod inboard while tightening the nuts on the two rear studs securing the center section on each side?

Hi Ken
On question 1. When you say compressor do you mean condenser? The compressor mounts to the engine.
The condenser mounts on top of the r/h fuel tank and, yes, it is a tight fit and I would say doing the mounting at the same time as the sidepods would make life easier.
The mesh for the opening can be done later but is not easy.
If any of this is wrong (which is possible) Steve D will correct me.

Yep, condenser. Since my side pods are already permanently mounted with grills and foam wedges in place, I think I'm going to need to fit the condenser prior to riveting the body in place. I'm not sure how easy it's going to be to trim the foam wedges at this point, but I'll have a look when I get home tonight and see whether I can figure a way.
Thanks! The project marches on…
