I've searched the forum and have found a few posts saying how side scoops have helped improve under clips temp at speed because they direct more air inside than just the grills...

However, what is the affect of the scoop at low speeds, and in stop-n-go traffic? Does the restriction on the mesh/grill cause higher Temps? It cannot help air in as the car isn't moving, but does it have a negative affect as well?

Any input is appreciated. I've purchased some scoops, and am about to install the side pods on my build. I am debating whether to install the scoops because the under clip Temps in traffic is of concern. Thanks!

Basically you get no effect at stationary as you say as there is no flow. The majority of the heat escapes through the grills in the top of the clam.

The only effect at stationary that you will get with our scoops is that they look fantastic...

Fot those with side scoops installed on their Ultimas, did you leave or remove the grills?

Hello Daniel
I would suggest leaving the grill mesh in because it stops any debris from entering the air con / oil cooler rads and engine bay
ie leaves small stones etc

Factory do not fit or offer side scoops as part of the build package, I had heard it does impact on the cooling at slow/stop speeds, but have no evidence either way, I also think they look great BTW

Can't see why it would impact cooling at slow speeds?

Perhaps the impact when stopped was with old very restrictive mesh?
