I'm currently shopping around and Footman James are saying they no longer insure Ultimas but will honour existing policies. All they said was that ultimas are higher performance than most kit cars..... odd to go to the extent of winning business and then stopping it! Currently Adrian Flux is the front runner, contacted CCI and classicline so far.

Well CCI and Footman James appear to be linked somehow I got a quote from CCI and they kept mentioning Footman James which is all odd to me as last time I was underwritten by Aviva!Edited by confusionhunter on Tuesday 28th June 16:55
I'm really not sure all of the brokers have a clue, the times I have to explain my car is NOT a Nissan are myriad.
ETA: I've just had another look at my quote from CCI and the return e-mail is XXXXXXX@footmanjames.co.uk
Go figure.

It would seem towergate have bought out footmanjames some time ago. Towergate is the parent company of CCI so would explain why they would be being mashed together....and would explain why footman james are changing their insurance strategy perhaps.

Adrian Flux are a complete waste of time and effort they quoted me £700 for the atom fully comp 3000 miles protected NCB I tried phoning around and had similar quotes so went back to them to take the policy out and all of a sudden it rose to £1000 I had to have a tracker fitted the excess was £1000 and they wouldn't do an agreed value somebody said try FJ and couldn't believe there price £169 fully comp with everything £200 excess I had to ask them 5 times and explained what the car was but that was right so I paid for it there and then. BIG mistake I put it on the Atom club forum about 7 people took up the same offer unfortunately they have stopped insuring Atoms now probably because of accidents etc.
Although they will insure my latest acquisition for a very similar price happy days
This isn't the first time Adrian Flux have tried to kick me in the bo110ck5 either !!!

AF wouldn't accept factory advice on repair, wanted me to go down into Hinckley to use a body repair shop even though factory said body needed replaced. Avoid them like the plague they have no interest in kit cars just getting your premium then they don't give two hoots.
Have to say that my recent experience with Adrian Flux was exactly the opposite. They pretty much insisted the car went back to the factory to be assessed, they covered all the costs of transporting it the 450 miles there without any issues and they were happy to be guided by the factory as to what work needed done and and at the end they got it safely transported back to me. At renewal time, the premium had increased by less than the cost of a tank of petrol.I have no other experience of dealing with insurance companies to compare things with and maybe I just got lucky, but do have to give credit where it is due.
An update on my quest for a decent quote.
I tried Classic Line who wiped the floor with everyone else's quote.
Interestingly they weren't interested in my no claims bonus, stating this policy didn't work in the same way as normal but would be discounted on renewal if my no claim status remained intact.

Hi folks. The UK insurance market has gone crazy for Ultima cover - not in a good way! Pick the car up next week and so tried to firm up a couple of quotes I had happily got in few weeks ago .... to be told "we don't insure Ultimas..." but when I point out "yes you do..." I got - "yes but, no but, yes but....not for new Ultima customers but we will for exsisting customers....so bu@@er off..." And it is not me - I have no problems getting insurance normally.
Not sure that business model is sustainable. I have flagged to Richard at the factory. I will be going with Classicline as the quote is OK, but it does give me stuff I do not need e.g. Europe cover and Breakdown; so asked for them to be removed.... same price...so added back in. So better have a trip to Europe in next year.

just renewed mine with comp car insurance. bit more than last year but still 614 quid i thought getting expensive
no cars wrecked recently or stolen so not sure why they are loaded... it might be because the factory have released a new car, the Evo the cars have been rebanded and now they are in the lime light insurance companies put off due to 1000 hp in a 1000 kg car.. so much for publicity

Maybe they have changed, but their ignorance and stubbornness 6-7 years ago, cost me a lot of thousands. Hey ho lets hope something in our world has changed for the better. The "repair" was shocking I refused to take the car away, the shut-lines on one side of the front clam were wide enough to put a pack of fags in.
This was soon found to be a result of a poorly welded front clip, the clam when released from its screw down mounts, sat a foot above the scuttle, they had packed the clam stop on one side with about ten penny washers!
I threatened legal action, the result was full market price and a set of new Dymag carbon wheels for my trouble.
I suppose this was a result, though I'd have preferred to keep the Noble
My renewal came through this week from Footman James at £260 for agreed value and 4k miles. I did have a slight wobble when in the same post I had a letter from FJ saying they weren't going to insure Ultima's but then they phoned to say ignore that letter since they would be doing existing customers. All good.
