Hi Chaps,

I'm just about to send off my registration docs to the DVLA. I think I have to include two payments. One for registration fee (£55) and the other for the first 12 months road tax.

Does anyone know what this is please? I have tried searching online but I cannot find anything.

Many Thanks,
Martin

Would it not relate to the engine you fitted? (year/emissions/capacity)

I expect it to be £230, like any non-emissions based car.

I was under the impression that all Kit Cars had the same road tax rate or has that changed now?

it hasn't changed. They don't all pay the same, but you'd need a pretty small engine to pay the lower rate.

Yes unless you are going for an engine below 1.5 litres you will pay the higher rate of £230.

You will also have to pay the initial registration fee of £55 same for any car.

If you were taxing a Ferrari/Lamborghini new it is over £1,000 in year one and somewhere around £600 a year thereafter.

Thanks guys. Looks like it's £230 then. Why can't the DVLA have this info clearly on their website is beyond me.

Cheers,
Mart

I SORN mine for about 5 months during the winter. Saves a few quid going to the Government to be squandered and as I have found that using the Ult during those months is no fun and a lot of cleaning time, it makes sense to me.

Also, I use those months for any changes I might like to make....

PS. Works out about £150 a year RFL and £320 a year Insurance so just over £0.14 per mile combined. Not too bad IMO.
