Complete Kit Car Magazine review of the Evo
Discussion
My name is Jim and I bought a Kit Car magazine.. ok, there is the confession out of the way
However, it was a decent read, had good photos in it and I guess it would have been interesting enough (perhaps not quite £4.75 enough tho) for anyone casually reading the magazine. Think it may be the first time I have ever bought that magazine tho.
No disrespect to CKC, but it would be great if a more mainstream performance magazine did a review. In all my years of reading the likes of Fast Lane, Evo, Performance Car etc I can't actually remember reading a proper Ultima road test (feel free to point me towards one tho if they are out there)
By coincidence, a mate who is the Motoring / Features Editor of my local paper (daily circulation 48,000) has asked if he can do a sort of road test / feature in my car next spring which will be a bit of fun but probably not quite up there with the like of Richard Meaden or Jethro Bovingdon basting around the Evo Triangle

Evo took one to Isle of Man and was it Evo or Performance car that took one to Le Mans?
I'd like to see them take one on a test against others, or perhaps road/trackday car of the year.
Thanks for that. I'd like to see them take one on a test against others, or perhaps road/trackday car of the year.
Just did a search on eBay and found (and bought) the Evo magazine from 2005 with the Isle of Man article
interesting
went looking at tescos and sainburies for the kit car mag, and not on the shelf
surely unless the guys get the car in a proper publication, only the limit few will know about it??
Richard, we need it in Evo or Topgear magazine or when Chris takes over Top gear get it on the show.... FAST

The Factory can't make the car fast enough for current demand, so there is little point in spending on any additional advertising, fastest TG lap (which they are no longer allowed to do at Dunsfold themselves!! Good old BBC).
It is still worth remembering that Top Gear is 'entertainment' and the way they decide to feature the car may not be favourable to the manufacturer (think Hawk Stratos).
I think the old adage of 'all publicity is good publicity' has been proven wrong by the VW fiasco.
Monkey Harris would probably produce a worthwhile test but to a very limited audience.

The review was of the 2006 GTR 640 going over to do the TT course on the Isle of Man. It was a fairly good article and put across the essence of the "Bloody hell!!!" type performance really well, comparing it favorably with the McLaren F1 I wonder if, in retrospect, that type of feature in a proper magazine with a photo on the front page had any influence on the interest or sales of the car back then.
