After 14 years of building, owning, rebuilding, Vmax runs (including the 1" gap in the door top at 170mph), Le Mans SBC to LS7 and meeting loads of interesting people and scaring myself on numerous occasions my baby has gone to a new owner.

Loved every minute and cant rate the car or Ultima high enough.

One day I may be back but now fancy something red, Italian and with a donkey on the front!

I'm sure you will miss your Ultima but then you can always build another if the red thing doesn't fit the bill.

Can't beleive it... I still remember the vmax event we did when I had my canam and you casually asking me "where's your splitter" after I had just done a 186mph run lol

I genuinely thought you would never sell it.

only want to change brands .... ???
I think, if you do not use the gtr on track, it is used at 20% of its potential ..... and you lose interest.
the track is the ITS environment, where it expresses the max.
It was built for this

Which dancing donkey are you going for?
I have a small Italian itch again and can't decide V12 or V8.

Guy,

Thanks for the opportunity to own such a special vehicle, cant wait to take it to Spa & what an engine the LS7 is.

Also can't thank Charles & Gavin Dunn enough for their help understanding what makes an Ultima 'tick' or should that be growl!

Good luck on finding a 458, I've heard that they are a great car to drive!

Cheers
Simon

Did 190mph both with and without the wing, made little difference on the straight to control ability ... Didn't do any corners tho, only tried it without because I wanted to crack 200mph and was hoping the wing was slowing my acceleration, again it made little difference as I just didn't have the grunt to get there in the relatively short distance that is brunters

If it was uncontrollable at 150 does that mean you went off? If not, by definition it must mean it was controllable? winkbiggrin

weaved all over the runway took up 2 lanes... factory told me afterwards its because i hadnt taken the splitter off as well as both work together

tbh it felt like i had front end lift rather than front drop rear light but all the same refitted the wing and 183mph standing start straight as an arrow

Front splitter and rear wing makes a massive difference at those speeds especially the braking - you just push on the pedal as hard as you can. Most passengers are shocked by the speed but more shocked by the brakes.

Yes I remember the reaction of passagers I would take on demo runs in my Porsche 964RS... Epic and the comments of WOW, etc., were nothing with what they experienced.

Interesting...... so for top speed runs we are saying run a wing and splitter together.... or neither.... not one or the other?
How much does the wing and splitter aero drag knock off the top speed roughly?

When I did Vmax, factory said take off top element of wing, didn't have a splitter. As a result of my amateur set up of geometry and running gear, the car ran perfectly straight with no hands on steering wheel at 150-170, managed 199 on best run, but was kinda shocked by door coming open on 1st run up the track that day. I cannot believe how sweet a home made car ran at 2-3 times the speed limit, The only scary thing was how hard you had to brake after the speed trap. Long time ago now frown

Hi Tim

Still popping in here then?

I have not forgotten that I owe you for the bodywork.
Any chance you will be down this way in the near future?

Hi Paul.
yes I will pass your way one day, just so busy at mo, supposed to get easier as you get older but not in my life. I have no idea when I'll be down but I'll be in touch, at least I now have a slightly more fun car to drive than the disco, old fashioned RS6 which can take the wife and the dog at the same time.
