if i built.
id have body fitted by factory
i would have long wishbone suspension
id would have flat floor with longer footwell(so i could run aero)
i run non standard dash and have removable dashboard as mentioned(worth thinking about Richard as a standard option)
id run long thin air vents in dash not big round vents
heated screen yes
id look at other engines and boxes. v10 audi, rs4 rs6 rx7 even porsche turbo etc.
id like a 996/997 pdk type box options rather than manual
better inerior(more prodction car feel)
seats are perfect. dont change them
hydraulic front lift kit for speed humps
fixed front splitter not on body
rear diffuser and fixed rear body work with wheel arches.. rear engine cover not rear clam.
bigger rear wing bolted to chassis not body
floor under engine
bigger wheels and tyres and brakes

Can you clarify what you mean by

"id would have flat floor with longer footwell(so i could run aero)"?

I was also looking for a hydraulic lift kit for the front and was wondering if that would effect the handling of the car in anyway?

Thank you

factory offer a modification that allows taller drivers by moving the pedal box forward by about 6-8 inches.

in doing that most 6 feet people wont need a lower floor

by having a flat floor, air doesnt turbulance under the car and the front splitter and maybe rear diffuser will work in harmony

by having a lowered floor, the cars floor isnt flat its stepped and upsets airflow.

V8Dom and alishawkat,

I installed air ride front suspension last year. Handles great on the street, Instructor at Lime Rock Raceway here is the States was very impressed how well the car handled on the track.

Dom, for it to work as you describe, you'd need to have the engine bay flat too? How would you remove the lower support or make it flat in there?

To add to this - unless you're racing or serious about track days, I think concentrating on road manners/ability is more worthwhile than additional downforce?
As is, mine is significantly quicker on track than any "normal" super car - r8 v10, porker turbo, 458 speciale, 12c/650s etc. But on road they are significantly quicker than the Ultima, even more so when cold or wet.

So unless the car is for track only, I'd concentrate on making it more capable on road. But you could argue that's starting to change the point of them smile

i run dry sump so the lowered brace under the engine can be cut out and weld straight one in its place
ive taken templates for flat floor under the engine and box.
i have templates for wheel arches.
if i do it i would have rear of clip attached to chassis. rest of clam hinged

front down force would be bigger splitter like steve smiths plus 2 cannards on each side of front clip

I would make the rear grill moveable for easy access in to the rear of engine bay for polishing the exhaust cool Although fine to have the grill in place for a normal road driving to prevent too much crap mucking up my car. On track and summer heat wave driving the ability to have the whole back end open to exhale all the hot air from the engine bay is beneficial.

Were the tyres new?

There are some matters I don't understand from Steve . All that amazing work on special clam, aerobrake, exhaust......but the old fashioned air filter "pot" still remains in its place swallowing liters of hot air.........come on !!!

And its an easy fix! The Carb style intake will also reduce the lower end torque whilst increasing high rpm power (over 7K rpm).

Although individual throttle bodies might be better for overall performance / looks, this intake / setup will still work. Also the clam can probably be modded in the same way as a ITB setup to get cold air to the filter.

Just to clarify ... The pancake air filter was a quick bodge just to get the engine running. Inhaling hot air from under the clam was obviously not a good idea.

I had a really nice design for the cold air intake taken from above the windscreen down to a permanent fixture on the throttle body.

As the car was never fully completed I saw no point in spending yet more money on the air intake etc etc.etc.
