hi ,,
has anyone replaced their aircon cooling fan on the aircon rad?
when using my aircon i find it is drawing too many amps and taking all the charge out of my race alternator.
im limited on space for the alternator so decided to look at changing the fan.
if i use the heater its fine.
if you have what did you use please

i run a race alternator which is only 60 amp
fan is standard curved one fitted from new, not sure amps but lokks simular to kit car solutions website
with only 60 amps with hetarr fans on , msd etc etc they soon dissapear so any amp saving will help... when rad fans come on thats close too as they draw alot too so looking for low amp solution for aircon, and same amp solution plus higher cfm for rad to cool the summer traffic jams
no roon for bigger alternator due to exhaust design and layout

I fear it will be difficult to find fans with same cfm but significantly less amps.
Alternator does not necessarily need to be bigger physically to have higher output.
I have seen the smallest Denso types with outputs of 140 amps. The other thing is that they can be made to produce a lot of their potential at v low revs as well.
Problem in general with race alternators is that they produce v little at low rpm.
Also are you using the correct drive ratio to get it near to max rpm?
I am facing a similar problem due to my dry sump install.
I am driving the alternator with a toothed belt and I cannot get pulleys to give me good alternator speed.
So I will prob need to buy alternator that gives max current at lower rpm.

Powerbds.com make a 250 amp alt that fits the Amercan speed brackets with a little mod. clears Dry sump systems.
