Has anyone managed to fit Porsche hubs to an Ultima so that the 5x130 Porsche rims can be used? I figure if there is a G50 box, then why not go for Porsche 6 pot Calipers sitting inside Porsche fitment rims?
Thanks
Gregory

The wheel offset will be the issue.

I appreciate the reply.
So the offset is going the wrong way, meaning hub extensions wouldnt help.
Would custom uprights be needed to be manufactured?
The reason I am investigating is that I have a number of sets of wheels from GT3 & Turbo 996's.
Thanks again

I used porsche bearings, hubs and brakes on my project so i completely understand were you are coming from.... my uprights are basically beefed up version of the Ultima ones on the front and from memory the bearing size is similar so i know they can be made to fit if you are prepared to engineer stuff.

If your more than happy/capable of doing some engineering then you the have scope for carbon brakes along with thousands of different affordable wheel options at the correct width.

Now I wouldn't say I am a machinist but my father runs a small engineering company with CNC and lathe tooling.

I have sets of Porsche calipers, Alcon discs, rim sets at home so trying to find compatability would be great.

I surprised I haven't bumped into you on the Sufflok Essex border with your garage! I am close to Sudbury but commute from Colchester.

just an opinion but Porsche rims are so easily identified, as such, using those Porsche rims is going to look like a cheap, kit car. Not meaning to give offense but before you go to all that work you might want to consider your idea in greater detail. Lee

Well I can't say I agree. There are thousands of aftermarket rims for Porsche fitment, even full carbon rims would be available, it would open the door to better range of tyres, brakes etc etc

what? there's a lack of rims available for the current set up? I don't think so. The A.P. brakes or the monsters that Jeff Schwartz offered won't stop the car fast enough? Lets not forget the records this car has set with the factory setup. I'm not sitting here with my head up my tail pipe about possible improvements on the stock car, like the new switch option for head lights ect on the new Evo or the stiffer frame. But brakes and rims? maybe a switch to 19s in the rear but that would be if proper 18 inch tires become unavailable. Which so far is not the case but its getting a bit more difficult. Just my opinion, Lee

Having in mind to mount longer wishbones this would change the equation.

the problem becomes bearing compatibility, drive shafts......

The ford and porsche bearing are actually identical in many cases (some swop the porsche bearing for a ford bearing on the noble so they can fit fiesta hubs) and of cause porsche CV's both sides becomes an advantage if you can find the correct length.

the effect it will have on the geo needs careful consideration though especially on the front.
