Looks like it (and sounds) like it has a tuned LS7. 7.2 NA 720PS.

I don't like the look of it, they should have hired SS to do the restyle wink

What would be good is to see how fast Mr MacG's Taranis would lap the Ring!

But that's like saying you'd like to see what a Ferrari 458 GT3 racer would do compared to the road car.

I'd expect the MacG car to be at least 20 secs faster thana sorted Ultima?

yes but Jonnys hasnt got an Ultima anymore, so what would the time mean?

its a real shame... Jonny is flying the flag and promoting the Ultima brand but if he recorded a time at the ring, the factory couldn't use it as he cant use the Ultima name anymore

politics!!!! who needs it, just run the factory car guys and show everyone what you are talking about in virtual reality .

Look at the difference between a modern GT3/Blanpain car and its road going equivalent - different wheel base, track, bodywork, positioning of engines, rads, oil coolers etc etc. They are massively changed from the road car.

Racing improves the breed....

The Stig drove a Mclaren MP4-12C GT3 to a 1:13.2 around the top gear track which is over 3 sec slower than what the factory did with the GTR720 on slicks. The GT3 cars are lapping under 7min at the Ring so I wonder what the GTR720 would do... I think it may be under 7min on slicks with a pro driver who had a lot of practice laps with the car.

I will be able to do a GT3 car vs Evo 700hp on slicks time comparison at my local track - Sydney Motorsport Park mid next year, I am about 7/10ths off the fastest kids in national Formula Ford there but if I can't extract the most from the car I know some pro drivers who will be able to so we can see how close, or far off it really is.

A gt3 car will benefit from its aero far more at the Ring - only 1 high speed corner at the top gear track. A road GTR 720 would not keep up with a GT3 car round the Ring.

GT3 cars will go round Silverstone GP in around 2 mins, GTR720 won't get near that.

Doesn't matter lol. A road ultima on slicks will still get nowhere close smile

Now this would be interesting - will look forward to hearing how you get on.

Sydney Motorsport Park - well known to Mighty Car Mods fans!

I think it is about time the Factory recorded some official figures for the 1000hp Evo.

As a small company a trip to the ring for a record is rather costly.

However, a repeat of the Top Gear Track run would be interesting, Santa Pod runs or a lap time set at Silverstone GP Circuit. If nothing else a run at Bruntingthorpe.

Bit late in the year now but something for next Spring maybe.

+1 A completely different world.

ETS depending on what you mean by sorted.
Some would say Mac G's car is a "fully sorted" Ultima scratchchin

I am sure with a full order book they can afford the euro tunnel hotel fuel and associated costs. Finding the time maybe another thing.

To carry out Ring tests isn't a cheap day, considering the cost of exclusivity for the lap(s), travel, accommodation, fuel, hire of a Ring expert driver, +,+. There is then the question of why, for sure the Ring lap time is a bench mark for manufacturers and if we look at the last few road cars, excluding Radical, they are in a different league to the Ultima in regard to drivetrain, traction, power plant, some hybrid power, development etc. etc. all of which are fairly crucial in making a car deliver a lap-time anywhere near the top. Having high engine power/torque isn't always the best solution, having useable power and traction and someone with the ability to use it is key. Considering the Evo with 1000hp and 900+ft.lbs. of torque going through a single axle with just a LSD and rubber on just two wheels would be quite a challenge and probably to its detriment. It would be interesting to see nevertheless but Ring or any circuit tests are about balance not simply brute force that cant be used to its full potential, unless you are simply straight lining like on a drag strip where only off the line traction and gear changes are a priority.

If that's the case how did they ever get the unofficial top gear test track lap record?
