Just to prove the tracker company does monitor the system, I had a call at 5.55am this morning from them telling me that my tracker had been flagged as being disconnected from the battery.

Fortunately for my sleep requirement I can see my workshop from my bedroom, and I also knew that I hadn't charged the battery for over 6 weeks.

She is back on charge tonight and I can sleep knowing my car is being watched while I snore!

I read that the car has to be immobilised for a IVA test / new build and if an alarm is fitted it must be fitted by an accredited company. Do insurance companies specify anything more such as trackers and do they offer discounts due to this additional security?

For IVA the car has to be immobilised but this could be a steering lock.
If electronic immobiliser is used you can fit this yourself.
If an alarm is also used then you must produce an installation certificate from an approved installer.

I expect some insurers will require a tracker but IMHO they are not a good choice as they obviously do not know the make/model...if they did they would know there has never been one stolen.
