So, all you new builders (and those that have been at it a while). What Christmas present have you bought yourselves or had purchased for you for your build?

Tis the season to be busy in the garage/shop so what are you up to Ultima wise?

My Ultima is sort of a birthday and Christmas present wrapped into one, but I've been picking up some tools and garage extras for the build. I picked up a 90 degree drill, small stand up compressor, led T8 lights for the garage, and some other odds and ends.

I'm just about to order another load of bits, which should keep me busy for a while. That's a Christmas present to myself.

Also just bought some basic track time with an Ultima ( on ebay ) for me and the Mrs. She's going to be on the insurance once mines finished, so I thought it's better if the first time she drives one it isn't mine smile

Try to include pictures of your build if possible.

Us chaps are used to looking at the pictures rather than reading the instructions, so a picture is worth 1000 words......

Bloody hell! You must have been very 'nice' to santa to get all those bits! Is santa also setting up the airshift / trans for you as well? Is this a track or road car? Also, didnyou strech to their AP brakes as well?.....

The Ultima goes out of service for a motec upgrade. We are changing from a 800 series Motec to a 130. The 100 series are the latest Motec offering. the reason for the change is I am adapting two electronic throttle bodies to work as actuators only. Each actuator will run one bank of the kinsler ITBs. One side will be master and the second side will be trimmed to the first by the ECU. All of this is because of a problem we have encountered with the Kinsler. What this will also allow me to do is employ traction control and allow for better idle control. We will also be able to slow the throttle response off idle so that the input/ output is non linear. Merry Christmas to all

by the way the Motec 800 will be up for sale. Lee

Ah, caught her in a vulnerable moment fuelled by alcohol and seasonal good cheer. Well done!

Hope you got it on video. You may need the evidence when the bills start to roll in....

I hope you enjoy the year.

From Ultima: Replacement throttle cable (for mechanical throttle body), face vent kit, replacement side screen vents, brake light pedal motion switch kit (to replace the fluid pressure switch), longer steering rack arms and upright steering arms (I already have custom control arms that are longer and with these bits I can remove extensions), larger battery bracket, replacement door lift support strut.

From MacG Racing: bump steer kit.

Hi all,
Happy New Year! My better half has bought me a registration (legal here in WA) of ULTIMA V8. Just need to finish the car so I can register it. Not far off now. Engine (Amerspeed LS7 700) arrives next week and final bits from factory end of January. Probably road ready about May??

@perth-evo: I highly highly highly suggest you don't use the factory LS7 fuel system as I can see. Mine was nothing but problems (clogged with baffling, then the valve stopped switching all together, etc), so I replaced it with a balance pipe and twin pump system. I see you've riveted the sidepods on now, but they're still a LOT easier to remove now rather than later when the body is on. I suggest to remove your tanks and weld a -12 on the bottom of it for the balance pipe now, especially with the engine not being in yet.

My 2c anyway. I'm based in Melbourne if you want my number to give me a call.

Hi AlexCim, thanks for your suggestions. I have seen quite a few threads about this but believe (in my naivety?) that the factory set up has improved significantly over the last year or so. I may live to regret it but am building the car to their spec. Thanks again
