Am I being daft - Doesn't Lee's company in Leicestershire make the Ultima?
Stig - how much less practical than the M12 is it? Love my Noble but could do with a little more..

Nope - Ted Marlow (and son) own Ultima and make them in Hinckley. Ted bought the rights to the early MKII (IIRC) Ultima from Lee (who prophetically said it would never seel as a road car) and proceeded to develop it for the last 17 odd years into the stunning bit of kit it is today.

As for practicality, well, it depends on how you define practical? The Ultima has more storage than a Noble for starters, but is perhaps a bit more difficult to get in and out of. Personally, I've always thought of the Noble as a 'softer' option, but then again, my Can-Am will be as cossetting as a BMW - so really, it's up to you?

Is it just me, or do those videos seem quite tame? It didn't seem much more than a sunday drive?

Manic squealing of tyres and blue smoke is somewhere beyond the best grip/G.
The engine is also quite cos it can make whatever speed/power is required at little more than tickover.

I agree with you that it would have made a more appealing vid but that was not the point.

If an Elise can manage 0.98, then what does an Exige achieve with way more downforce and much grippier tyres?

Thanks, carmad. I am surprised there is so little difference. This is all a bit dubious imho, as it is dependent on so many variables, like the tyres, but good on the ultima. I have driven the elise and exige and the exige feels like it has a bit more grip. My nerve gives out long before my elise loses it, except when it is wet!

I'm sorry, was the actual tire that was used for the records listed. Ultima is numero uno, but sticky, sticky tyres doth records maketh.

I believe it was on the standard factory tyre setup but no doubt they played with the pressures to find the best for the day. These would have been Goodyear Eagle F1 Fiorano 335/30/ZR 18.
