Just broke the axles and stub shaft on my 2003 Ultima GTR. Did the factory make any improvement since then? Any aftermarket axles and stub shaft made in the USA? I know Jeff Schwartz used to make an "Unbreakable" one but they don't make them anymore.

Surely the factory items suitable for their top of the range models will be sufficient? There is also MacGraqcing over here that supply driveshafts, but sadly can't help with USA suugestions

I seem to recall they are factory rated for 1000hp. For most cases that should be enough, although my understanding is it is the torque that kills them not the bhp!

I have also been warned, once used, they should be put replaced on the side they came from if/when they get removed. Something to do with a reversal in stress making a failure more likely.

Have these been changed since GTR (or earlier days)?

I recall racing a friend at Santa Pod. His can am was more powerful than my Sport. Halfway down the strip he was nowhere to be seen. He had also broken a driveshaft. He told me they weren't heavy duty. Or maybe I wasn't trying hard enough.

Hi Dom, whilst ours are good, they are rated at 1000 bhp, not 10000 bhp! smile
