Fuel swirl pot
Discussion
Sorry to bring this thread alive again but I thought I would share my attempt at a surge tank. This has been in cardboard form for 3 months and I have just got round to making it in ally and fitted it last night. It has a 2 litre capacity, -6 top/side fittings and a -8 outlet at the bottom. I have also put a 3/8" NPT bung near the outlet for a temperature sensor just out of interest.
All in all this cost a total of £59, £40 of which was for labour (folding/welding and polishing) so the costs can be kept down if you do some of the running around yourself.

Hi chaps I had the car out on tuesday for the first time with the new fuel setup, after scrapping the carbs, that is low pres pump feeding injection pump thru filters back through fuel reg to main tank, I think I had a problem with air in the system, and wonder if I need a swirl pot, there is one on the bottom of the main tank which the low pressure pump is fed from, but this cannot help the problem up front, where the injection pump is located
Should I feed a swirl pot from the low pressure side then feed out to high pres pump, with a return from the pot to a T in the low pres side after the regulator back to the main tank, and would I need a breether back to the main tank, if I did this, and should this solve my problem

I've just purchased the ITC305 swirl pot from ATL that was mentioned below. What's a bit wierd is that the part that arrived is different from both the description CanAmDave gave below, the 2005 and 2006 Demon Tweeks catalogues! That said what has arrived suits my purposes more than the listed part so I'm not complaining! First off here's a picture:
The connectors are -8 fuel pump outlet at the bottom, 2 x -6 swirl inlet, 1 x -6 swirl outlet and a -6 bleed on the top. The Demon Tweeks catalogues don't mention the swirl outlet and the 2005 catalogue talks about a -4 bleed.
I have a spare new one of these if anyone wants it £90 incThe connectors are -8 fuel pump outlet at the bottom, 2 x -6 swirl inlet, 1 x -6 swirl outlet and a -6 bleed on the top. The Demon Tweeks catalogues don't mention the swirl outlet and the 2005 catalogue talks about a -4 bleed.
Hi Mike,i have run with a square tank as high as i could get it on the bulkhead for 3 years without any issues ,the low pressure carter pumps feed this in to the top of the tank with a -8 supply out of the bottom into the injection pump ,the overflow feed from the regulator goes back into the tank then there is a -6 feed out of the top of the tank back to the fuel tanks .Its worked very well so far . simon
