Flat boost level for now, though the Turbosmart E Booost 2 will do lots of fancy stuff like 6 different boost maps.
Air inlet temp was as high as 104 deg Farenheit in 80 deg ambient, didnt even have to run the intercooler fans (2 mounted underneath)
Engine temp never exceeded 194 deg F with the stock Ultima cooling system. All good numbers.
I switched the coils back to stock today, no different.

First thing I checked, Grant.
Official results are posted here.
www.sscc.us/results-06-sscc.htm#z2z
keep in mind it was cold windy and 6000 feet above sea level.
We had ignition issues that prevented us from revving beyond 5000 rpm in any gear.
One Viper was supercharged, one Twin turbo, the GT40 was supercharged too.
Check the distances.

Chris,
You must hold some sort of WWW record for the amount of times you've asked how much something is (seemingly) without ever purchasing enything.

Grant, remember, talk is cheap i.e. a lot can be talked about for no money. When you actually enter into a project like building an Ultima, the monetary cost is almost the easy bit, it is the time, commitment, enthusiasm and patience that prove to be the real cost don't you think?

The engine should be no more than a Gen 1 TT like that other guy sells.

I'm certainly interested in finding out costs on various options, being in the positon of very close to finally being able to order a kit.

I don't know if there's history here or if it's just banter (hard to tell if you don't know people), but from an outsiders point of view, it does come across as elitist.

It does seem that way at times, im going to be building an ultima one day cant afford it at the moment as i have other priorities. But i like to hang around here now and again as its my dream to build an ultima and makes me smile when someone on this forum gets there car built, or does something spectacular like Jeff at the silver state.

Not everyone has 60K+ to drop on a car at the drop of a hat. So factoring in the cost of various items and planning your build around cost seems more important as really the build itself is just a matter of time and energy spent which you provide yourself for free.

I know i cant build an ultima for a while yet, but im planning my life out so i can do the things i want to do. One of those things being building a Ultima GTR, and talking and reading about it gives me encoragement to keep on trying to make it happen.

What would we be if it wasnt for our dreams.

What aspect do you perceive as elitist?

I can see where you are coming from but I can assure you it is not like that at all once you are inside, maybe it is exclusive, but not elitist.

Chris, I am in the same boat as you. But I am saving and learning as much as I can so when I can afford the car I will be ready to go.

Jeff, I assume your LS2 is aluminum. I was wondering if you are running an engine girdle to stiffen the block under high horsepower? I am told the guys making major power need to add this item to prevent any block flex and subsequent damage to pistons, etc.

Here is a link to the girdle I have seen on LS1tech.com

Steve,

I was referring to the 2 posts from Wayne and Crafty. Perhaps/probably not knowing either of them I've picked up the wrong signals, or misinterpreted their posts.

I think Wayne sends out wrong signals on purpose and Crafty's not far behind.

I do like a shit stir every now and then, thats for sure (rivets... and the occasional jab at the 14% AS correction factor), but I am definitely not trying to be "elitist" or "exclusivist" .

The thing is that I see the "how much" question all over the net when it comes to high end stuff and I kinda think if someone wanted a custom built solution like that, they'd be in contact with the engine builder to discuss rather than discuss it on a forum.

The "how much" question tends to suggest that a "how much compared to XYZ" is gonna start, and for that reason I dont think you'd find many engine builders answering the "how much" question on a forum when its a custom application, they might by PM, but not on open forum.

You get what you pay for and there's far too many guys out there building cheap engines with crap parts, and also each application is different so HP/TQ/$ are not as easy to compare as it would seem, especially in the hight end stuff. eg: most of the TT applications are for 1/4mile cars. So the "how much compared to XYZ" tends to mean little in a custom application... and the "how much" question is usually where that is leading.

The fact that there's newer Ultima people looking on only makes it more confusing (in my opinion) as everyone that wants an Ultima (yeah... everyone) wants the biggest /baddest (blackest?) car in town, but in reality (and based on driving Jeff's car 4000miles accross the USA with its previous 30,000mile 500HP LS6).... 500HP is plenty.. and in any case most people wont spend 10's of 000's of USD on an engine. So to me, the questions about how much for high end packages just confuses the newer guys..... I know it confused me when I arrived here.

Not trying to be "elitist", or "exclusivist"...Id like to think that was being a realist.

edited: 500hp x 114% = 570hp!

BLACK is Boss!!!!

What Grant said basically with the exception of the 'Exclusive' bit. These cars ARE exclusive if only by the virtue of the fact that they are all tailored to suit the individual builder/owners taste and that there are no two exactly the same.
