I think there may have been a trio of porkers in front of him.

Ahhhh but how many of those Porsches were going topless when they did it?

I only did three runs, the first was a 'touch feely' 'were's the track going' one, the second saw the front splitter come off at 170mph, (still went on to record 178mph though).

Must say that the size of my B*$$£S was a contributing factor, I was a little bit nervous after the front splitter and ended up only doing one run with my foot to the floor.

It was still accelerating (got to 6100rpm) but the road was running out. I have the last run (and fastest) on video (Digital) but don't know how to upload it.

I have to say the car was fantastic, and watching the video was almost as much fun as the event itself.
God these things are fast!.

Andy - short of more oomph (Plan A), it seems that the dreaded entry speed is more critical than I certainly, could possibly have imagined.

Thus (Plan B), you simply have to wait for dryness, get your gumballs up to temp and quite simply whack the b*stard round at full tilt and go further than mortal man has gone before.

Dunno what the best/highest exit speed on the day was but I reckon an additional 20-30 mph for the overly cautious might retilt the balance towards the big number some as those timers are tripped...

Bonkers! I love it!

You are right in my ignorance I didn't exactly push it round the first bend as I thought it wouldn't make much difference, how wrong I was.

Will find out what exit speed I was doing....as it gives me an excuse to view the video again

This is one advantage the porkers will hold on to very tightly. With 4wd and Porsche's famed TC they can hit that 1st bend realy hard had have a good idea they'll come out the other side. With some practice Andy, you could up that exit speed and it'll make a huge difference at the other end.

Well done mate, you did us proud

Now remember next time, slicks, NOX, hard top, remove brain, wrap around sunnies, oh and parachute.

I looked, I saw, I am ashamed........

After viewing the video footage I can confirm my exit speed on the corner before the straight was an embarasing 55mph... when it should have been over 80mph.

Sorry boys I let the side down

Nah Andy - just a little circumpspect and frankly, with all that firepower ready to be mercilessly unfurled, who can blame you?

Anyway, next time - conditions permitting - the confidence metre will be that bit higher and BAM...

Still, it's interesting just how fast in reality all these psycho nuthouse motors really are; on one lap, I'd told Greg to hold back whoever was behind me as my 3 gallons/mile had led me to an urgently needed fill up...

The plan was to amble round like Miss Daisy. So, having virtually free wheeled round the first bend onto the straight, we let momentum and the faintest of throttle apps do their thang.

Half way along the straight, about 130 and my demonic passenger shook his head, said "it's no good," so the cog dropped to 5th, down went the masher, up went the decibel count and even in such a short distance, 175 flashed up.

But it is all in the entry/exit speed. Indeed, Sir Greg of Braunceston Hall was theorizing as to the sort of initial turn in speeds needed to achieve the required impetus out...

This is where it will be interesting next time. Remember also, that Daz - who managed 190+ - effectively increased his best time of the day by at least 15 mph compared to his previous Brunters sesh.

Don't you love it when a plan comes together!

Bonkers, and I'm sure I speak for most of the electrocuted jelly moulds in hailing you boys for your particular brand of crazed speed freakery.

Hail!

Nice on mate!

Good to see you and the car at long last. Shame you didn't break the 200mph mark, but hey, 183 is still bloody fast.

Looking forward to getting mine properly run in to give it the full pasty, although, I'd probably run out of fuel before I got to the end of the straight

Andy, if you check the Fotango site I set up with the pics my wife Emma took on the day, you'll see there's a rather nice shot of the takeoff as you left about £30 worth of rubber at the start/finish!

Respect.

If you think thats abuse, you should see the footage of my track day yesterday.

Fortunatelly redemption is already in place as I have purchesed the software and hardware to allow me to upload the images and seek forgivnes.

All the software is in place, I have upgraded the hard drive.....However the restricting factor is not the motherboard.

Looks like I need a whole new PC so its time to rethink my finances (I am an Accountant after all) to see if I can afford what I actually want.

Anyone want to buy an Ultima, 3000miles one careful owner?

I bought a re-con Packard Bell two years ago & even then was only about £400 - and it's been fine for DV in & out . Make sure your drive has plenty of space -delete all the old stuff, do a disk clean up, do a defrag of the drive - this might help.

Or if you're near Reading visiting Stig I'll do it.
