Hello Patrick,
I'm getting close to ordering my first group of parts, after a trip to Ultima next month. A word of caution about bringing in a "kit car" into Canada - check with Harry Baergen of Transport Canada BEFORE ordering anything. They can be real sticklers for what is allowed into Canada. The basic rule of thumb I understand from talking to him is "if the parts in the one shipment allowed from that manufacturer can be assembled into a "rolling chassis", then it is a vehicle, and subject to FMVSS and the Canadian equivalents.". However, "kit car" is a vague definition in the Canadian government right now. I am convinced that the parts can be brought into Canada legally, but it will be a nervewracking process. Don't let this put off the dream - GTR!!!

That sole reason is why I am not currently building my car I went and spent the money on another investment Please let us know how your importation goes.

Was your car the one refused entry at the border? If so, can you tell me specifically why? What stages were in the shipment? Reply off-list if this is a painful subject to talk about.

As jschwartz said it was Paul's car that got sent back. It really is a silly law. This law was never intended to apply to people purchasing cars for personal use. It was designed more to prevent manufacturers. Somehow it got interpretted that way. I can't imagine how bad Paul felt when this happend to him I was also depressed for a while.(selfish reasons)

When I saw the mention of his car being refused entry - that was a depressing day I assure you! But, since talking to numerous people, both official and not, I'm confident that the parts can be brought in legally. Visit the factory early next month, make some decisions (color?), and probably order first group in Aug. or Sept. this year.
Are there any GTR's on Ontario? Built here? I would like to look closely at the build, and talk to the builder.

Paul Everatt has a GTR, recently installed an LS1 from what I understand.
