This has also been tried before and only worked well when the engine bay was panelled out.
The factory strongly recomend against this.

I don't actually have a problem as my car had never got close to overheating, obviously I would like some cool air in the air filter and may try a few things to get air circulating when moving.

Hi guys,

Having just returned from Le Mans (about a 900 mile trip!) in VERY hot weather, I think I can safely say that I've given the GTR a pretty thorough workout as far as temperature goes.

The good news is that it did not overheat once! I used the fan override as soon as we hit traffic, and I reckon that the temperature never got above 100 degrees (the Stack exagerrates a bit when the airflow in the engine bay is still).

Regarding under canopy temperatures. Well, this can be a problem especially when you've filled most of the space with supercharger!

The under canopy temperature must have been extremely high. Like Andy, you couldn't remove the air filter without protecting your hands. Additionally, the excessive heat makes the throttle butterflies stick slightly open, meaning that my idle was getting stuck at about 1500 rpm (and up to 2k!). A quick stab of the pedal helped 'snap' them shut, but the idle still ran at about 1300 rpm. Adjusting the idle screw has no effect either - need to investigate this as it's a pain constantly having to rev the engine at lights/junctions etc. and everyone thinks you're a knob for doing it!!!

Other than that (and a seized heater fan - so no aircon all the way there and back!!), the car was spot on and now it's run in, is mental!

I'd say that the only reason you'd want more power than this is to get the car to take off. Believe me, the problems that it creates far outweight the benefit of having another 100hp or so.

As far as solutions go, I'm trying to source some carbon fibre vents (which will look good) to add to the rather small ones in the canopy. Probably one either side of the main 'lump' in the canopy, and another further back from the main scoop. I may even make use of the original fans which I upgraded to suck air into these vents although, they're a bit big and I don't want Murcielago sized jobs!

Getting air in/out of that space is going to be much better for the performance and cooling I reckon.
