I'm using a single blue Holley pump which is extremely noisy, particularly at idle when it drowns out the engine. Its fixed to the alu bulkhead (using some rubber spacers) which may not be ideal, but even unbolting it and supporting it clear of the car, noise is still pretty bad. Is this a noisy type of pump? Are the Carter ones supplied by factory quieter? I know this thing is no Lexus, but would prefer to hear V8 grumble than irritating buzz when sitting in traffic.

All the pumps tend to be noisy. The only one's that are not, are in Tank pumps. Just one of those little things to put up with.
You may also find the Holley Fuel regulator is transmitting some of the noise, best to mount that on rubber bobins as well, makes it alittle better.
Have same setup on my car.

Good point on the regulator. I've mounted it high on the grp bulkhead about 3 inches from the drivers left ear. Will take steps to isolate that a bit better.

gdr - the Carter pumps are also now mounted under the engine mounting brackets on the lower chassis rails. This dramatically cuts down on the 'drumming' that you're getting through the bulkhead.

You'll need to extend the loom though (as everyone else does!!).

The Carter pumps from the factory come with the carter mount bracket and a plate to rivet to the chassis.
The pump mounts to it's bracket using small grommets in the holes in the bracket. Having heard about noisy pumps I have added 'Cotton reel' type exhaust mount rubbers between the mounting bracket and the plate on the chassis.
I haven't run them yet so don't know if I have wasted my time. I haven’t wasted any money cos Kwikfit hand out exhaust mounts and pipe clips for free seems there is no way they can book them on the computer.

The Carter manual has details of a "Quiet Kit" that sounds just like the solution you've installed Steve. Would have thought that it would make a bit of difference though I don't know how much noise is transmitted through the chassis from those pumps.

I actually made the mounting plates for my pumps out of a couple of 18 gauge sheets of ali bonded together with an ultra thin skim of Sikaflex. Once the adhesive cured the resulting composite is fairly stiff and should limit the transmission of vibration which still being more than strong enough to support the pumps effectively.

It had nothing to do with me not having the right thickness of ali sheet handy at all....no absolutely not.

gdr does this mean that your car has passed its SVA??? If so then well done!

Are you likely to be at Knockhill for the SMRC meeting this weekend?

Dave, Still no SVA, only got round to putting in application a couple of weeks ago. Knockhill will have to wait for time being.
Will try some of suggestions below on fuel pump, but maybe once I get out on road with engine at full chat will not matter.
