Are you guys using the automatic valve on these units connected to ignition? Im looking at plumbing one of these on my GTM. I understand the LSx motors have some oiling issues on sustained high G corners and am looking for ways to avoid throwing a rod.

Anyone use one of these on an LSx based Ultima? If so, how did you plumb it?

David
I have an accusump on my LSX, plumbed in according to the Accusump directions. there is a benefit on starting as the solenoid releases as you start the engine so pre oiling as you turn the motor over.
Other than that they are as Rowdy says a band aid at best.
Dry sump is the way to go, in fact on an Ultima it ought to be pre-requisite.
Regarding the "sludge" thing I have to say I don't see much at all, the Accusump empties its contents regularly on start up so no real time to collect, unless it's just down to regular oil changes?

I find it hard to believe the accusump has time to pressurise the engine oil system unless it fires as soon as you energise the ignition circuit and you then pause before cranking her over.

I have an electric oil priming pump plumbed in on my 27 litre Meteor engine. It takes about 25 seconds to start registering oil pressure on the gauge. It is capable of providing 2.5 bar pressure to protect the engine when cranking it over.

Oil pressure gauge goes up as soon as the key is turned....and then push the start button.

Yup, that's certainly how mine works

When you do an oil change do you switch on the ignition to open the valve from the Accusump so it's contents will also drain out? Otherwise old oil will be left trapped in the device - or am I missing something here?

As you say; When doing an oil change warm the engine as normal, turn off with ignition switch, turn on ignition switch watch oil pressure on gauge go up and then decrease to 0, Accusump now empty.

I guess to have the best pre-oiler performance you need to rev the engine to increase the oil pressure to be stored in the Accusump when turning off the ignition. That way you get the highest volume of oil stored at the highest pressure.
