Thank You Ult-Jim
That is a beautiful job and probably silences a few creeks & vibrations that would otherwise be part of the cabin atmosphere.
Simple, clean rather than the garish attempt just shown below your pics.
Thanks for the above shots. The stitching is more than adequate w/o taking the car apart again.

It's ok for a Ferrari or a sporty import, but when it applies to an Ultima, it don't float. Ult-Jim's approach is classic, subtle look w/o getting into jewelry.
Then again taste is often "in-the-mouth" so what ever makes your boat float is fine. Taking a little HARD feel out of the Ultima's RACE car is great, just not too far. A Bad Ass does not require an evening dress and lacy undergarments. When you lift the rear clam I expect to see large testicles, but that's just me.
Everyone here is entitled "To My opinion".

clive...no stalks, all on the wheel...quick release steering wheel with trick little connector. As it happens I cant even remember detaching the steering wheel but its nice to have I suppose. There is also the RapidProto handbrake console between drivers door and seat that you cant see.. this has on it - auto door release, Varex exhaust control, handbrake, remote control pad for CD/stereo, electric mirrors, battery kill and engine bay light switch.
its a busy road car I guess...
I wanted all the switches concentrated into a main area to keep the rest of the leather dash clean...I could have spread them around more but didn't..

Yes its very easy to compile a long list of switches/buttons when you get into the electronics etc. Interior design is not a simple path, I'm still struggling with mine what to put where etc..
Personally, for a road car, rather than a race car, i want a button for anything that i need to access often, when on the move, and without thinking. That means major controls (indicators/wipers/lights) on stalks probably, with EVERYTHING else minimised into a iDrive type controller (NOT a touch screen, they are too difficult to use on the move) In fact, using the BMW iDrive 'knobulator': is pretty easy to hack as it's a CAN device, so you can use it to control some custom power control electronics for switching / config of everything else. A sensibly sized (not massive!) OLED screen would then provide the primary feedback for all the connected devices. In front of the driver i still prefer and analogue revcounter and speedometer, again, plenty of OE units that are easily hackable for their Stepper motor drivers etc. Like these VW gti ones (actually a TRW part)
The only "extra" button a i might go for is a Fezza style "Manettino" switch, with maybe "Road / Race" selection, the actual details of which are configured in the Idrive. I'm also not a big fan of handwheels bristling with badly added buttons on a road car.
The only reason i'd not fit stalks behind the wheel, is because there was no room, or the room was taken up by paddles for gear changing (although it should be perfectly possible to package both)
