I soldered my wires to the stalks then used my own connectors from there to the loom
Ditto. Bit fiddly, but better than trying to re-wire some old connectors... Will be sorting my wiring out as soon as the car is back from the painters, so will post some wiring when I have it sorted. I have scanned the wiring diagram from a Haynes Ford Escort Manual (1980-1990) if anyone else wants a copy. Good place to start working it out!!!

A few weeks ago I started to draw the Escort stuff patched into the Ultima loom ... it was after a few beers so my drawing skills were rubbish and my enthusiasm faded quickly.

Black lines were going to indicate wires that I removed.

Next time I'm sober I'll do it. I dont think I'll try to do it in Photoshop this time - maybe by hand would be better.

Good Start Crafty....

Go On.... Go tea-total for a couple of days! You know it makes sense!

...not that I have anything to gain (like a completed wiring diag), you understand...hehe

although reading quite a few posts I still have not figured out if the M5 stalks have the
delayed wiping relay built in already ?
However I have found that VW has a relay NR. 99 that can be programmed by simply engaging it
and once convenient activate it again and thus programming the intervall time.
Probably use this one.

ok investigated further in the vw stalks that i received this week, they would probalby a perfect fit but are missing the light controls for the regular driving light. they however would be perfect with the nr99 intervallrelais as they have the down function on the wiper arm to program the relay intervall time and may be modified to be only like 35 mm deep.
I figured in the meantime the FORD have the blinker relay built in, and i wonder if there is also the realy for the driving light. cannot imagine that the contacts in the arm assembly can handle the driving light directly ?
Also saw a 6 intervall stalk from ford, are these direct contacts or how does the intervall function work at all on the ford ones ?
The Ford really would clean up the dash board

Found the wiring diagrams here: http://pdftown.com/PDF-Ford-Escort-MK3-and-MK4-Ser... this has a diagram of the circuit on page 23/28 of the "Electrical System.pdf"... and drawings of the relays and switches on page 16&17 and a key to the diagram on page 18.

Sorry Crafty but that link isn't working for me. I tried it before and spent about an hour on that site trying to figure it out but I can't find it. Maybe I'm lame? It looks like the link you post is cut off.

There's a comma after the filename within the URL. Here's the URL without the comma.

Currently playing with dash design ideas and was wondering if it is necessary to have the lengthened steering column if going with stalks?

Yes - I seem to recall 4cm extra length - can check if you want as have both columns
