I will be ordering an Ultima in the next few months, and am trying to figure out a reasonable cost estimate. Since all of the figures are not in $USD on the Ultima website, I am trying to determine actual cost to build in dollars. It is also difficult to tell what is NOT included in the kit. I see they say the transaxle and engine are the only thing missing, however I find that hard to believe. Is there anyone in the US that can tell me how much I need to set aside to build a nice, but not overkill Can-Am. I don’t need every little goodie, but I don’t want to skimp either. I currently have a cobra and will be selling it to build this. Can anyone help?

Shaun,

See link for USA prices - www.ultimasports.co.uk/usa/prices.html .

A significant cost will be the taxes, duties, brokerage fees, any dock fees.
As to completeness of the kit, if you order all the details you want from the factory, you get everything to install each section. Try to talk to Ted at the factory and ask for a list of the items in each stage - it is impressive how complete the list is.

You'd better have about 3 Cobras to sell to pay for the Ultima!!

Spotty,
I'm in Ontario, Canada and currently waiting for my GTR parts to arrive. I have planned for around $80K CDN, but I'll be making some parts myself, and sourcing some items in North America.

Ok, thanks Al! I was worried for abit there.

Say how hard was it to get into the counrty with these stupid laws? I'm thinking i'm gonna try to get a guy that imports Cobra kits to see if he can do it. The paper work sounds nuts!

Yep - the red tape is complicated. I had guidance from someone with experience importing parts this way, which was a big help. If you need details about the process as I have done it, let me know with an email.
Waiting, waiting , waiting!

I spent about $80k usd
Coulda done it with $65 if I had used a carbureted gen 1 sbc instead of the tricked out LS6 and a standard G50 instead of the modified G50/50 trans.
