I have a weird problem. Ultima provides a 6 tooth ring that works with the speedo. I rec'd another 40 tooth ring from Schwartz Performance with my LS7 for the ECU speed sensor. I want to use both of them but the passenger side of the G50/52 doesn't have the handy bolts for mounting the bracket like the drivers side does.

Does anyone have more than one ring on their cars & how did you wind up mounting them? Pictures help a lot.

Thanks!!!!!

Paul

What is the range of adjustment on the factory gauge? It may be possible to just re-calculate the figure you input to the gauge so that it will read your 40 tooth wheel.

Another possibility is that the ECU you will be using may have a speed output.

End of the day the person to ask has to be Jeff.

This is a very poor picture but the pickup is mounted onto a suitable bracket. This ls1 was using 2 reluctors, ie one on each side of the box.

I'll see if I have a better pic elsewhere.

Thanks guys. I asked Jeff and he suggested I use both rings. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to mount them both.

Lee,
I've been told that I need to use specific rings for each purpose. For detailed description, please reread my first post.
Thanks,
Paul

Seems you should be able to calibrate one or the other so as to only need one ring. Not possible?

Paul: thanks I get it now do you know what the ECU does with the information? I thought traction contol would need to compare a front tire speed to the rear tire speed to know if the rears were spinning. Lee

You can use one toothed wheel, the Factory one, but use both sensors, one for ecu, the other for speedo. It may be possible to split the signal to both places, you could try it. Worse case you need both sensors.
Thanks

GM traction control requires another computer or two, ABS, and Vehicle control (or interface) module. The ecu just needs to know the vehicle is in motion to give full performance. (spark advance, etc.)

Jeff,
That is great news. I'll use the factory ring w/ both sensors. Thanks for clarifying this for me.

Sorry to be a bit off topic.. Has anyone fitted traction control to their car?

I have a Motec M8 that has traction control enabled, but it looks like it needs either 2 or 4 speed inputs... I was going to fit 2 rings to the drive shafts anyway with a view to getting it all working post SVA.

If you also need front wheel speeds, what is the best way to pick up a signal (magnetic system perhaps?)

Cheers, Mart

Talk to Guy (Bluesatin).
He has been running TC for some years.

I believe you will need sensors front and rear.

There is some discussion about TC towards the end of this thread:-

This is one way to do it. The wheel speed sensor picks up from the ends of the disc brake bolts. Keep the gap to 1.5mm max if possible. Alan.

Thanks Alan,

What system are you using for the traction control? Did the sensors come with it of did you purchase seperately?

Mart

Mart,

It's Racelogic, which works by cutting power sequentially to the fuel injectors. If you don't have EFI, you can cut the sparks. The sensors came with the kit. There are four of them, one to each wheel. They can be bought separately but IMO are very expensive at about £100 each (if I remember correctly). Why they should cost £100, I don't know. Would be worth trying e-bay. Let me know if you would like photo's or any other info. Alan.

Alan,
I know Bradz had the Racelogic system and liked it a lot. What do you think of it? Is it really worth it? Given the current exchange rate it is probably about $2700 here in the US.
