I think I paid £55 for the sensors direct from the maufacturers. The also sell counts that protect the body of the sensor. I use the bolt heads from the front brake bells and use two cutters at the rear of the drive shaft (one is supplied by the factory for speed sensor)

Hi Guy,

Spent some time last night reading the help files on the Motec M8. It looks like I can put up to 4 wheel speed sensors into the system for the traction control. As it is not a locking diff in my box, I need a sensor on each driveshaft (will probably use the factory units or similar). For the front wheels, acording to the help files, you can use just one sensor on the wheel 'least likely to lift whilst conering'!

Not sure if I should go for one sensor or two... I take it you have one on each front wheel?

I am still adding wiring to the loom at the moment before final fit of the sidepods, so will probably run some cables down to the front brakes anyway. Do the sensors have 2 wires or have they a seperate power supply to? Also who is the manufacturer you mentioned?

Sorry for all the questions, but it's easier talking to someone who has already done the hard work!!

Cheers, Mart

Mart, Don't forget your sensor wires will need to be screened or you will have problems with false readings.
I expect the sensors will be two wire.

Cheers Steve,

Was planning to use some screened twisted pair cable. Should do the job hopefully.

I dislike electronic traction control.
And after discussing at length with Racelogic, I can't understand how cutting the injector to maintain traction will not lean out the engine and cause damage, especially on a 1000+hp twin turbo.

Jeff,
I'm really glad you weighed in on this. I was thinking about the Racelogic system, but will pass until I find another better option.
Thanks,
Paul

Jeff, what was Racelogics take on the potential problem, or did they avoid answering?

Can't understand why it would be so popular if this was a real issue?

..and who out there has actually used the system..and what were their findings in reality?

On the Motec you can choose between ignition cut, fuel cut or both for the traction control. Perhaps the Racelogic system does the same?

I had the same thoughts, so was going to start at the ignition cut which I believe can be set up to shut down cylinders progressively as the revs exceed the setpoints? All I have are the help screens on the Motec software, but I think that's how it works...

Racelogic's been around for a very long time so I'd say it's been thoroughly tested in all sorts of applications. I knew of a few s/charged monaro's using it without issues and it seems fairly flexible.
