Not much in it really is there. But like it says, if you are after dry road and track then the V70 is the best at stopping and second fastest by a smidge.

This is the most telling comment:

"Unless you're going to race I believe the cost and availability of the tyre should be the primary factory in your purchasing, not outright speed"

£750 a set delivered. V70As do it for me.

But it's good to go on people's experiences on the vehicle that you are to but them for.

Due to the Ultima's light weight and wide tyres, I've found it almost impossible to break traction on straight line breaking. This works in two ways positive and negative:

1) It gives you massive confidence when approaching fast corners - a positive.

2) It gives you massive confidence when approaching fast corners - a negative....oooooohhhhhh...SSHHHIIIITTTT!!!!!

I did medium compound fronts and hard rears last year. Loads of front end grip and a gentle and progressive oversteer when pushing the boundaries. I'm taking the factory recommend mediums all round this year, which will mean I will be able to carry more speed in and through the corners. The negative side could be that the understeer will become more apparent, and playing with hot pressures will be more important.

I'd expect to do two sets of rears to a pair of fronts with 8 track days. Butthen again, perhaps the miss-match of compounds was causing the rears to go off before the fronts were troubled - dunno.
