Ultima vs. GD T170, and other possibilities
Discussion
Not a serious buyer at this point, but a serious admirer of the Ultima GTR/Canam. I want to know if there are other cars out there that are worth looking into. I have heard some sporadic and good comments about the the GD Lola, however this may not as good as the ulitma for almost-daily driving. I think the overall cost should be between $40-75K USD.
What I really want is a convertible, with killer looks, great performance, and well supported. This seems to be screaming Ultima Canam. It seems that there are a lot of great track day kit cars, XTR 2, Radical, Coram LMP, but none of these cars have full windscreens, something that's a requirement stateside for road use.
Further context- I do own 1958 corvette and I'm trying to decide if I want to customize it with a tube frame, c5 suspension, and ls1/ls6 motor or build a custom kit car.
Thanks,
Miguel

I think everyone here would agree that a Can AM would be the way to go.
Take a look at this PH road test.

This would be a tasty alternative. If you click on the link then click on Links there are some Ginetta dealerships that appear to have sold these cars in the US. I'm not sure thou. Webpages loaded slowly for some reason. Then there's always the Caterham route to performance.
