Looking for some good info please...

I just purchased a GTR from Ted. Now the fun part, wait 4 months for the kit to be shipped over the pond. That gives plenty of time to determine my trany and engine configuration.

Being in the states there are a number of Porsche parts shops. The ability to acquire a g50 or 50/50 with or without LSD is quite easy and not to expensive. Plus it’s easy to negotiate these days.

I will probably get a 425hp to 475hp engine and do more street than track with the GTR. I haven’t decided on carb or injection. I do want to have the least amount of failures and remain within a reasonable cost for the trany. I do like the idea of a six speed with close gear ratios.

So, based on the assumptions, is a 50/50 5 speed (then mod the gears) the way to go or would it be better to get a 993 6 speed and mod the gears.

Which trany is stronger?

I’ve seen people spend $8k to $12k USD for the finished g50 trany. At this price is it better to go with a getrag? What performance mods are required for the getrag? What is the average cost for those mods.

Is the 50/50 stronger than the getrag?

But there is always better. The Zonda that raced at Leman has a Getrag with Holiger internals, 6 speed Sequential.
Here's one of there agents.

There's a 6 speed Sequential trans axle out of a Cadillac LMP car in Autoweek for $15000.

Sounds nice except for the price.
