Porsche 6 in a GTR
Discussion
The six will be pretty heavy. Porsche engines aren't exactly light. Would also cost a bit to mod. I think a v12 is a more interesting alternative.
The Cayenne v8 turbo engine is an absolute beast. Imagine a 5.5 sec 0-100kph SUV. Imagine that (445-450hp?) v8 in something nearly half the weight. I'd love to hear a race variant.
Anyone know what the Carrera GT sounds like? Revs to 8k?

As promised, had a talk with the builder of the Porsche GTR.
Basically, it has a 911 turbo gearbox that had the ring and pinion reversed internally rather than inverting the gearbox.
The Porsche engine, due to it's width, had to be moved forward several inches to clear the frame tubes. This will also improve the balance.
The current engine is about 300h.p., but will be replaced very shortly with a twin turbo of approx. 600 h.p.. The scoops where the fuel fillers should be are to cool the intercoolers.
Suspension has been modified to allow for more precise adjusting.
Will update any more info when I can.

The Porsche website has some audio and video that may give you an idea of what it sounds like. Sounds good to me more of an F1 pitch than V8 bass rumble the Cayenne S has. I hope the GT gives thee "Enzo" a good run for the money. In the US one mag (R&T) said the Enzo could be mistaken for a Honda Civic at idle.
Not to change the subject.

That will be why they use 'em on airships then as they are such heavy engines.
So what part of the all alloy air cooled 911 engine is heavy then?? (200kg 3.2 carrera as an example good for an easy 270 bhp) (3.3 turbo approx 260kg and good for an easy 400bhp or 500bhp if you go a bit wild)

Heard it at goodwood sounded great, but too muffled.

The turbo engines are heavy. A modern all alloy V8 is quite a bit lighter.
Heard the Carrera GT on an add. She's a screamer
