Bloody hell, thoughts are answered.... Time to make contact methinks.

Just not sure about the wheels but figure the motor will be nice and reliable.

yeah I saw that one too, looks very interesting! though i don't know how strong those heads are...there is a story about those ZR1 engines I believe...but not sure it was a long time ago...ow and i believe expensive to repair, though I think I have this over a American speed engined Ultima...

I'm also still looking and with todays euro/pound prices its very interesting, though I have to sell my Hartge first, but am in no hurry with my one off car, but one day I want to drive or a Ultima GTR (400<>600hp) or a Lotus Exige with 340<>400hp and then for at least a half year or so to scare myself withbiggrin

that looks interesting, wonder what the LS5 produces.
LT5 me old mate, and 405bhp 385lbs std.... Thats a nice engine for a Ultima... and a Bargin price...
sorry meant to put LT5.... the point is its a completely different engine to the LS.

still a bargain if all you want is 400 odd bhp.

even more of a bargin if you want to do an LS engine swap.

sounds like it has a fuel system and programable engine management system that would be suitable for use with any of the desirable modern engines that you could care to swap into it.

i actually like the wheels, just wish it was for sale at that price in Australia.

bobdylan I have gone the other way, I ran a Canam for nearly 3 years and now have a Tamora. Feel free to mail me through my profile if I can help with any questions.

Spoke to the chap on the weekend, he's interested in P/X my Elise Sport 160 (which in itself is a great little car) and that saves me the hassle of trying to sell it.
The GTR sounds a little tired by the owners admission but hey ho I like to drive em' not polish em'. While the LT5 HP is a little low the torque is nice and high and I've missed that in the Elise.

Was the LT5 the corvette motor that Cosworth set up?

A little of history......."The all-aluminum LT5 engine's design was a collaboration of GM and Lotus Engineering, sharing only a 5.7-liter displacement with other small-block engines. The engine was built by Mercury Marine, which was renowned for its aluminum machining capability. Engineers were justifiably proud of the LT5's refinement and smoothness; so much so that it was claimed a nickel placed on its end on top of the engine wouldn't fall over when the engine was started. The challenge was immediately taken up – and the LT5 roared to life while the nickel remained standing".

A good and not well known engine with many nice features. Ask Doug Rippie Motorsports for their conversions from 450 to 600 hp. Is the engine used on the Elise GT1 Le Mans car.wink

Graham, you really should think about getting a GTR yourself or at least fabricate some kind of roof for that half-car of yours; The sun beating down onto your unprotected head appears to have administered a mild dose of sun stroke apparent by crazy and incorrect statements like that above hehe

I made a call to the seller of the aforementioned car but he never got back to me. It looks like a relative bargain to me yes

I'd bring it down to the factory but for two things:
1. My son is getting christened on that day and wifey wife would never, ever, forgive me for taking off and missing the after party she's been organising for the last month.
2. And more importantly the car is rather tatty and needs a good amount of TLC, looms tidying etc...

I can report though that the engine is brilliant, revs as well as my E46 M3 CSL did, just seems nicely balanced and feels about as quick as Ted's silver demo car (I think around 500hp yes?).
I guess it has circa 400bhp/400nm but the lads selling it have tinkered a little bit.

Now gotta get rid of the V6 number plate! It's a V8 guddamit man!
