A while back dizzy gear wear was a hot topic and no doubt it will return.
I have some info which could help us all. The Chevytalk forum had been advising on the subject and recommends putting a groove down the side of the lower section of the dizzy shaft so that oil under pressure is sprayed onto the gear and camshaft.

The MSD dizzy most of use will use has an ‘O’ ring above and below the oil gallery that the dizzy shaft passes through. I raised the question on Chevytalk about how to deal with the ‘O’ ring.
Grumpyvette is the main man and has included a picture of how the mod is done.

This mod is easily carried out even for those already on the road.
Turn the engine to TDC on number one, mark the position of the rotor against the edge of the dizzy and the exact position of the dizzy on the inlet manifold using Tippex.
Remove the dizzy and make the groove using a file or dremel and a drill to tunnel under the ‘O’ ring. Deburr and clean up.
Refit dizzy to line up with both sets of marks.
