LS Engine Problems

Just reading up on the saga of this engine - sounds like a nightmare install.
So before I go out and buy an LS3, can i just get a couple of things straight, so that i am not assuming anything?!
A standard GM performance parts engine LS376-480 + GM Performance Parts Controller kit 19201327 = all of the problems mentioned above?
Just checking i am not missing anything!
every engine install is slightly different. i wouldnt trust actual plug and play on anything without mapping. i wouldnt just add a general base map in say a motec without mapping- ask aquilla!!!! maybe the relative cheapness of these engines in the US classes them as disposable.
I have not read through every post, but I noticed in the first post you mentioned:
'Things to note, if looking at the engine bay from the off side, the two banks towards the rear of the car cause the headers to glow cherry red very quickly, however the engine is runnign rich not lean.'
This, coupled with the emission issues suggests that you are getting a lot of unburnt fuel into the exhaust system, which is detonating and causing the exhausts to heat up - and obviously have a knock on effect on emissions?
Exhaust valve timing could be to blame? If its opening too early so that some of the ignition is occurring in the exhaust, that would give these symptoms?
Hope this helps

Ah, I have now had time to read through the entire thread, I am glad it all got resolved.'Things to note, if looking at the engine bay from the off side, the two banks towards the rear of the car cause the headers to glow cherry red very quickly, however the engine is runnign rich not lean.'
