I need to make a decision on body colour soon. The factory are now offering a much wider choice of colours so the decision has become a lot more difficult. Has anyone ordered/seen any of the new offerings in the flesh? The website has a colour configurator so you can get an idea, but I was wondering if anyone has seen any of these colours in reality?

I was going to go with red, then black, then red, then...

Choice of colour is a very personal thing. I'm sure you have your choice already embedded deep down in your gut, but you need confirmation of this choice. What does your wife, girl/boy friend (your choice) say?

For me, I got it down to Kawasaki Green or black, I like all the colours but went with the Kawasaki Green as I am an extrovert

For me, it was simple: sports car = red. All the new color choices in the world wouldn't change that.

Haha.. in my thinking, Red Sports car = Ferrari so for an Ultima, any colour apart from red smile Good that we are all different tho.

I think the factory demo car in black looks nice and I recently had a black and gold Type 72 Lotus which looked fab when it was cleaned, but it seemed to get dirty every time I looked away from it so don't think I would go there again.

So for me, of the standard colours it would be kawasaki green ... or obviously dark grey, with a great big orange stripe down it smile

Once you have seen the Factory Silver demonstrator there can only be one colour.

Unfortunately they don't offer a silver gel coat!

It means that the question I get asked is "what make is it?" rather than "is it a Ferrari/Lamborghini/McLaren".

You can't be too far from the Factory so why not pop down there and look at some samples of the colours (Richard, you have got gel coat samples, haven't you?).

Every time you open the garage door you need to see a car in the colour you love it, so spend a bit of time getting it right.

Thanks all for the feedback.

I think I have narrowed it down to one of the following:

Red
Med grey
Dark Grey
Black

The factory will be sending me some gel coat samples so I can make a final decision.

Red does tend to fade on painted bodywork, but does it also fade as much on gelcoat?

Dark colours will probably become unbearable in hot weather, while grey and white are cooler. In all cases and regardless of the choice of colour, I would recommend building with A/C included.

Agreed that black doesn't show off the lines as well and the car does look smaller.

One additional thought, that no one has mentioned, that I have always thought important when deciding the colour of a very quick car or bike is visibility and safety. When I say quick I am not referring to top speed but acceleration. I have always chosen colours that stand out. My GTR is Kawasaki Green and when I was going to build one had chosen Yellow. People need to be aware that you are there, even if you are 100 yards back. A non descript colour will too easily blend in with the traffic. Nabbot and Abbosolution know what I mean!
