So it's everyone else's fault except the person you asked. Who'd have thought?

Been riding my motorbike to work recently and it's great. 20 mins. However I've just read in the article that I drive past the 7th most dangerous place in the city every morning.

Best make some tamboon!

Thats a nasty dent in the motor. Im guessing insurance is not an option (?)

i`ve managed to clock up a couple of hundred ckicks of BKK urban riding on my steed and lessons learned so far are: -
1) Always let a Thai take off 1st at the lights
2) Never change direction against the flow
3) The Nuru-gell-like substance in front of Comwboys or Nanas is not to be braked upon
4) Dont try and ride through the protests. If you get caught up in one, park up and join in like you mean it untill the riot police arrive
5)Dont get in a spat with a taxi driver

Did you read the comemnts fromt the Taxi driver, moto taxi, bus and tuc-tuc drivers? Classic

Khun Lee... "There are good and bad drivers. I cannot blame them; sometimes I drive badly, too. We all have emotions. Can you drive nicely when you are in bad mood? We all drive for money. We are all in a hurry."

here, here

It will be done on my insurance, so premium will be up next year, but shouldn't be too crippling. He didn't even have insurance...

I thought you wore those dents with pride, a sign to other motorists to "fk off because I just don't give a st"

I wish!
I think the motorcyclist would have come off even worse against that.
As it was he just rode off down Thong Lo cursing "ach me poor wee motorbike she's nae but a month auld!"

John
The dints are OK but the lack of a wing mirror is more problematic. Makes it harder to claim that I do use it next time I feel like running someone off the road.

I had a friend who wrote off an old Jaguar by opening the door once! I suspect they've improved their rust proofing since then though.

When I was 15 I had a Raleigh Outland with the big bull horn handle bars on. Having fecked around with the brakes that afternoon I decided to go into town. On my way there's a bloody steep hill. About halfway dawn said hill the lights at the bottom turn red, cue me pulling the lever for my recently tuned up brakes upon which I hear a thunk. The brake blocks had decided they didn't agree with my tuneup and had come off the rim! My only course of action was to take th pavement and hope for the best, whereupon I face a bigger issue...

The Brownies were loading up their Sherpa for a weekends camping.

Outcome:

One brownie getting a six inch bruise up her ribs from my bars

One door ripped off the Sherpa that was used as an effective brake

Dads bank account 12k lighter as compo

One trip to to the young offenders with my old man to warn me this is where I'll end up if I carry on, and a bloody good hiding!

Anyone fancy a bit of go karting?

I went at RCA the other night for our company Christmas outing (not self serving at all!) and it was great fun.

As an added bonus they sell beer and it's in RCA which is full of students and young Thais drinking and looking out for handsome and urbane foreign gentlemen, so if there are none of those about then we might get lucky.

You do the next morning. Bruised ribs and stiff shoulders. I had previously assumed my fitness level to be about typical for an F1 driver - perhaps not quite Vettel levels but comparable with say Hamilton or Schumacher in his prime. I think I might have to reassess that.

Fortunately I managed to burn my leg on a motorbike exhaust the other week too (I'm having a good run at the moment) so that distracted my from the pain of the new injuries.
