Wondering if we have anyone based in Tokyo on the board who can verify an address for me...

Basically I'm trying to trace the history of a Tokyo supplied Ferrari that I'm considering buying.
it was originally delivered to a company in Tokyo and I'd like to contact them to verify some history.

The details I have are

BS Managements Inc
3 - 11 - 9 Setagaya KU
Youga
Tokyo
Japan

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Sorry about the delay in seeing this...

Are you still looking for the info? If so, I have a friend who is in the car leasing game in Tokyo that I can contact for you....

Hi glen
Yes please, I called the supplying dealer there in Tokyo but they have some serious data protection laws and wouldn't tell me anything.

Would be grateful for whatever assistance you and your friend could offer.

Cheers

Just seen this...

I'm based in Tokyo and have searched but can't find any company of that name at the address.

Seems to be residential apartments.

Thanks for looking... I'm guessing that it was probably an address of convenience for the management company as the car I'm interested in was part of a Japanese collection for a number of years.

Sadly Japanese data protection won't allow the release of any information on a used car so that's about as far as I can go I think.

Thanks again

Is it a particularly unusual car?

I'm involved with a few Japanese classic car clubs (with some significant collectors as members) and I'm happy to check with contacts if there is something that would help identify it?

When was it exported from Japan?

Not really, it's a Ferrari 360 spider, manual in rosso with black leather.
It was exported to Dubai in 2010 with approx 9k miles on the clock but was with the original owner until that time.

Ferrari dealer here in DXB confirmed that it was taken to the dealer in Tokyo in 2007 for a recall but apart from that, they never saw it... the story I was given was a private collection likely with its own mechanic but I can't prove that in any way.

Probably a long stretch then....

Cornes & Co would have been the official importer and Tokyo's only Ferrari agent at that time, but I imagine that is where the data protection issue lies.

For what it's worth, official dealer/specialist service history doesn't seem to be such a focus here in Japan - there's not such a tendency to compile folders of paperwork.

I think this partly reflects that the shaken (MOT) is so strict that cars must be kept in an excellent mechanical condition in order to pass.

That's right, it was cornes that I called and when I finally got hold of someone who spoke English they told me that they couldn't help.

Their name is also in the service book and their sticker is in the car windows so I'm fairly sure they supplied it, just a shame they can't tell me what they know.

Spoke to someone who buys their cars at Cornes and I'm afraid he received the same "data protection" response.

It's something which crops up in all lines of business here.

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks for checking, what a pain in the neck of a system they have!

Pretty busy with work at the moment, but happy to catch up for a beer sometime. Based in Akasaka and been here several years now...

PM me and we can fix something up.

Traveling most of June, but up for a beer in early July: work in Marunouchi, so anywhere central is convenient.

I was after an NR-2 2003 facelift NSX-R. I saw one on JDM auction site and put in what i thought would be a winning bid but it went for over 86k GBP. Shock n awe. It seems the market is bouncing with Japanese investors. Im still looking for 22B and clean Evo 2 if anyone spots them.
