Thats one of the reasons i work over seas, you see its all about investment, i earn the good money to pay for them to go to Uni to get a decent job and then i wait for the payback.....here it comes. Thats son No1

Son No2 has had his shot at Uni, came out 3 years ago as a Mech Eng, decided he didnt want to be a Mech Eng and wanted to go back to Uni to do Nano-Physics (thats working with things you cant see) he wants to be the next James Bond working for the MOD, not sure where the payback in that one is but in hoping they give him a DB5 as a company car and i can get to drive it.

Son No3 is just coming up for A levels gawd knows what he wants to do but it looks like im tethered out here for ever, cor what a blow that is

And i shall be going to Singers for the F1 GP
Funnily enough, i will be lurking about for that too!!

Have decided that this year i am going to watch the actual race on TV, but i plan to get a walking pass for the whole race weekend. Found that being able to just wander about all over the place through all the quali sessions and feeder races was better than the grandstand.

Having said that, it would seem from discussions that best grandstands are as follows ...

  • Singapore Cricket Club
  • Turn 1
  • Raffles Grandstand (can see T8 and T16 if i recall correct)
Hopefully i shall be lurking the garages, my son works for BrawnGP hehe
thats handy .....

got any spare pit lane passes for your mate in Singapore???
Now why did i somehow think that might be coming? hehe John im not sure yet if he can get us in yet, thats me and my other son, however, if........you never know.

Shipping out of Bangkok next week, off to Batam Indonesia for my new contract can't wait to be honest, done with Bangkok for a while. Would love to hook up with anyone at the GP if interested? May even venture into Sing as it's only 20klm from Batam on a boat.

wavey quite often pop over to Batam, either to the Palm Springs golf course to go digging for worms, or to Nongsa Point for some sailing!

Whereabouts you going to be based there(not that its that big a place anyway)

Aye, i knew how good the car was weeks ago even before it went on the track, however was sworn to secrecy at that time. I just wish i had a few bob on Jensen to win last weeks race as the odds were around 500:1 (or better) to win. Shall be watching the Sepang race from my armchair in the UK with my lad at my side so should be good to drag him down from the ceiling, once or twice.

Will you be there?

Sadly probably not ...

I am almost down to the canvas on my rear tires and still waiting for new rubber to be shipped in (i am rather fussy)

And it just seems wrong to fly there!

Your descrete tip won me two slabs of beer ....

4 of us picked a driver each in a sweapstake to see who would place highest on the grid ....

they then were foolish enough to go double or nothing on the race hehe

Don't think i will get away with that this weekend!

hey Furberger wavey

We have half heartedly tried to organise a few PH meets out here but i think we have even less organisational ability than the Perth WA lot!!

Perhaps we should try again some time!

Seen a few Ducati Monsters about so have probably seen you on the road (you certainly cannot miss me!!)

Not in HK I do race in a series organised by the HK classic Car club at Sepang Malaysia, so car scene is active in HK

I'm in Hong Kong, Been here for 10 years now, originaly from the UK

I drive a couple of Alfas of varying age and condition, neither perfect, plenty of stone chips and always something about to fall off or break on either of them but love them all the same. Good car scene here from new to clasics to lots of overmodified Hondas with fartbox exhausts but all sectors enthusiastic. Despite HK's relatively compact size lots of good roads and hills. Sadly renting a parking space is painful in price but not as painful as Singapore ownership prices by a long way!

Occaisionly meet up with some of the HK classic car lot for Sunday morning runs - a good bunch with a good variety of cars- but 7.15am meets on a Sunday morning are hard work for me so I have only done a few. I usually do a Shek O run most weekends though (great road).

Work brings me down to Singapore too for a few days every 6 weeks or so.

I haven't spotted any PH sticker here..yet!!

sory, no PH stickers on the porker, just a tunnelrun one on the back window!!! However, i think it rates as one of the most distinctive cars in the PH owners sections!!!

Nice Porker John! Definitely distinctive and I rate the colour highly - it looks great. Fantastic car and I'm sure you enjoy the odd run over the causeway!

My GT Junior was a similar colour in the past - "Alfa Le Mans blue" but was resprayed "retail red" at some point years back. I have been told by older Chinese that the light blue is the same as the colour of paper similar to Chinese burning offerings sent to ancestors in the afterlife and that it wasn't a selling point for second hand cars in the late 70s. Therefore alot of cars were resprayed (Mrs 156 is a HK girl and a bit supersticious!)- nice to see yours has remaimed an unsual colour. Not sure how true that is but I have discussed this at length with younger people and they don't have the same view so I fully intend to return it to a similar blue when funds allow.

Next time I'm heading down to Singapore for work I'll post a topic to see if beers with you & other PHers are a possibility... but with but looking at previous posts you SG guys couldn't organise a piss up in a Brewerkz! ;-) :-)

All the best

Jason

Yea the outlaws tell me a similar story about the colour on mine too!! It has been so many colours in its life though (looking at the occasional paint chip, its a bit like archaeology. It has old english white, guards red and powder yellow amongst others under the current coat of "Mexico Blue"

Been planning on bringing the exterior look back to period with a duck tail and some fusches, when if i get around to doing that, it will probably get a respray to Viper Green!!

Yea when it comes to a PH Pissup, us singa lot are a bit like hearding cats!

managed a good gathering of visitors for last years Grand Prix but thats about it paperbag

Keep hankering after this GTV 2000 but know the wife will kill me!!! she wants a car with real aircon!!

I've always been a fan of the mad green that old fast Porkers wear. As for archeolegy I am also very interested - after I get through the next level of filler/lead I may determine previous colours but I keep on encountering this brown flakey colour, difficult to determine but it just breaks up in contact in your hands when exposed to daylight... must of been a fashionable dealer "add on" 3 or 4 resprays ago!!

Will definitely post prior to my next visit down your way.

Don't post up anything from Autobahn! I nearly got slapped when I suggested we turn round and go have a look see on Saturday... Apparently I should be happy with the Beemer.

I think she's still pissed that I've convinced her that I need another mountain bike - I've got five at home and forgot to bring one over with me. hehe

Rule #1 - never go into Autobahn with the wife unless you have ALREADY MADE A PURCHASE and are collecting it.

You will still get the slap and more, but at you will still have the car biggrin

There is a very good mountain bike shop on Frankle Avenue near Siglap.

(going into that shop to buy a mountain bike will also result in a slap mind you!!!!)

Hows it hanging?
