The dog can even come out with you .... i think for UK if muttley has a pet passport its 1 week in quarentine and you can visit 2 or 3 times a day.

We have a pair of rescue mutts here that do ok. They are nocturnal due to teh heat and tend to hide under aircon in teh day ... currently have a collie stealing all the cold air from me here!!!

Don't have kids myself but several mates have theirs at Chatsworth and it seems to be very popular / recomended.

As for the Jag, this one went for about $50k

No Pet Passport required and no quarantine either.
As long as the animal is ceritified as healthy and up to date on all jabs etc - shouldn't be a problem.

If you can to avoid all the large animal transfer companies as we were quoted around 6k USD !

Not car related post !

John - drinks in the offing anytime soon - not here during SG GP as decided to get out whilst all the riff raff are here

Stand corrected on the Quarentine thing ... Ours were found here in singapore (litterally found ... wandering the streets by the SPCA in one case)

Interesting about the pets but greyhounds suffer terribly in heat (and cold). However, if it were to happen it is something to consider.

So that went for about GBP25000, be about GPB10000 I reckon.

On a slightly different front the very last cabriolet (not convertible) ever made has just been auctioned from the JDHT collection. It has just under 2000 miles on the clock but needed recommissioning. Guide price was about GBP5000, about right. Sold to a dealer for just shy of GBP22000 who is now offering it for sale at GBP39950!!!

FFS that engine will need some serious rebuilding if its only done 200 miles ... when i got mine it had been professionally stored for 10 years (much like its previous owner) and every single gasket, seal and nylon doohicky had hardened and shrunk ...

Anyway - greyhounds ... one of my neighbours has one called Arabian, he takes it down the beach to run early mornings and late at night ... dog seems very happy!!! !

Hello

Even I share the comments of XJSJohn as for the image Singaporean have of their cars, I do think that things are changing and when you see closer to the 0-60mph that EV are able, most of cars you see in Singapore would be ridiculous !

Tax cutting could happen for EV if they are manufactured in Singapore... this would mean that an EV would 2 times cheaper than any car in Singapore ! Not sure that Singaporean would hesitate for a long time between their bank account and an EV !

We have 2 types of cars we are currently studying, a city car 2+2 seater and a 2 seater roadster cheaper than Tesla.

Development budget per car will be roughly 50 000 000 SGD, but if car amateurs are ready to help for the project we could drastically reduce the development budget. (I know you will tell me that Singaporean will never work for free or contribute to a common project, but who knows !)

Cheers

True but performance is not in the mind of the average singaporen just "do i look good" why else would they get the S280 or the E200 version every time ... then make it look like an AMG loser

Assuming that you could manufacture for the same or similar OMV as a class compairable gas car.

Also not sure where you would be able to do such manufacturing, given that yard space and labour would be very high compaired to pneighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia.

Sounds cool

I am sure that there are loads of car enthusiasts here that would be interested and willing to participate in some way, best place to start is the various car owners clubs. Would also imagine just by the types of owners that the higher end car clubs would be the better place to start.

Few questions -
  • how does the EV power consumption handle airconditioners and their power drain?
  • If thinking of using Singa as a small test market, what efforts have you done to the task of setting up charging stations in (perhaps) specific condo's or downtown carparks?

Another dog already? Sounds like your mrs is as bad as mine!

How's about setting up a meet the week before/after the GP? I'm flying back to France on Friday and won't be back until 22nd Sept. I've then got a month of bachelorhooliganism before MrsHGL comes over for a few weeks.

Sounds interesting. I won't mind helping out for a free car!

Have you looked at the Mitsubishi i MIEV? I am driving the petrol version and I find it suits my needs very well. The electric version really appeals as I can charge it at home very easily. Unfortunately it will cost as much as a 3 series!

I will agree that most Singaporeans will buy a Mercedes or BMW if they can stretch to it. However, the mass market is very price sensitive, and the most popular car remains the Japanese/Korean mid size sedan. Any EV has to match the practically and price in order to sell well.

As for manufactoring, I think that Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia will be a better bet. There is a tax discount for EVs in Singapore, but I don't think its enough yet.

Sounds like a plan!! pick a date and a location and perhaps a new thread wink

I have been dragged back to the corporate world of suits and am working in Dhoby Ghaut currently so am less like ly to be lazy about coming into central biggrin

ETA - Missus found Patsy a "friend" at SPCA, another collie (3 years old) that has such a bad sense of direction that he could get lost in a small room!!!

Back in town next Monday evening for the week.

Should have been two weeks but the shipyard is delayed again.

So it'll be next year now before I get to spend any decent time.

Cheers, Mark.

Where ya staying this time? anywhere in Central or out in the arse end of Jurong?

Perhaps we can get ourselves together and actually organise a pissup ...

(in fact if we go to Brewerkz Clarke Quay we can even organise a pissup in a brewery hehe )
