Tv to play on Surround Sound

Hi all,
My Dad has recently brought a new TV, Blue-ray player and Surround Sound, all same make LG. We have the speakers connected to the player but we also want the TV to play through the speakers as well but not sure how to connect them up. We have got a Red+White cable connected them and that has not worked.
The only connections in the TV are Red and White:
On the Player it has a Red Green and Blue connection as well as Red & White:
I am a bit stumped here so thought i would try search around and thought I would post here. I know this might seem like a simple fix but I just can not thing of anything. Thanks for help in advance.

I would take the optical output from the TV to the back of your home cinema kit. Then select AUX on remote. Looks like both bits of kit have one
