Was in tesco and noticed a few plasma's laid down flat. Has the technology changed or something (used to be that they always had to be stood up)?

You can lie a plasma flat without any issues, there is an argument that says they are better transported vertical because the glass is less likely to flex and break and they are less likely to have other things fall on them and break. But in reality it's very unlikely to happen.
