Panasonic Viera Plasma Screen Burn
Discussion
Hi,
I have a Panasonic TXP42x10b Vierra 42" plasma screen which we've had from new for a bit over 2 years. I've noticed in the bottom left the sky+ pause symbol can be seen faintly against light backgrounds (obviously I mean when the picture isn't paused).
Is there anything I can do to rectify this or is this a fault I need to call on the 5 year warranty I bought from Richer Sounds?
Thanks,
Mark

I don't see how that's a fault? Surely the manual advises against static images on the screen for long periods of time, and that sounds very much like people have been pausing tv and leaving the image on screen.
The kids sometimes pause our plasmas while they go for dinner etc, but always turn the screen off, otherwise I would fully expect some sort of burn or image retention of the pause symbol.

Run the TV with no signal - should give the white noise image.
Leave it for 15-20 mins like that.
Would be useful to know what setting you're using it on - Cinema, Normal, Rich, etc, and brightness & contrast.
Sounds like you've it set too high on brightness and/or contras, if not on Rich.
A setup DVD would be handy, or PC hooked up with the BBC test card image, and tweak the settings to lower more natural levels.
