Panasonic Plasma or LCD?
Discussion
I know i know its been asked a thousand times, but there are so many conflicting opinions!
Been looking for a telly, 42" and these are the two i have shortlised!
The Panasonic Plasma:

The Panasonic LCD:

I think they are both incredibly good value for money.... i literally only use a TV to watch TV! no gaming, the occasional DVD and thats it!!
So, considering they are both pretty similar prices, do i just go for the cheapest?! They both have freeview which is a must for me as will be getting rid of sky too!
Your opinions are greatly appreciated!

Personally I wouldnt buy a Panasonic LCD as they pics are Crap, I wouldnt go for the Plasma either as ive seen enough of them with duff screens to put me off completely... you wont hear this often on this forum as every one is well and truley brainwashed here but id be getting a Samsung LED, the pics arnt perfect but are good, the cabinet is basically the best looking thing in production from any manufacturer and when they do go faulty your not looking at an arm and a leg to fix them.

Well its too bloody late!!! I ordered the friggin LCD!
To be fair, I don't mean to come across elitist or anything but if you ordered it online and the idea of going to the store and having a look for yourself didn't occur to you I doubt the difference will bother you. Evan as a 100% plasma aficionado I'll happily watch an LCD if you plonk me down in front on one, I'd be more bothered by the setup of the average joes panel TV as regardless of tech, they're typically way too bright for starters.Although you did buy the wrong telly.

Distance Selling Regs. You can cancel.
Dixons/Currys do honour this properly too. I even had a TV in my house and rung them and they collected it gratis.
If you watch SD TV LCD will really annoy you.
If you only watch Pixar films in HD you'll love LCD.
There is a reason why they always demo LCDs with this....

Duff screens? Do elaborate old bean.
Panasonic plasmas have been plagued with faulty screens ever since the P70's, we replace 20+ per week in our little workshop alone, I know in the grand scheme of things 20 per week out of thousands per week sold isnt much, but its enough to put me off buying one.headcase said:

20 a week? Little workshop? Come on...This is extremely odd, you keep banging on about this but my experience is the diametric opposite.
Indeed, an acquaintance of mine is a senior manager with a pre-eminent reseller of such things and their returns rate on 'other brands' is horrendous.
All products can fail but only two out of the big four manufacturers provide five year warranties...

Compared to the quite frankly appalling black levels and pixellation I've seen even on the latest Sony Bravias and Samsung LCDs I'd take that every day of the week.
